Post subject: TIVO HD Expansion drive

Have a WD "My Book" 500gig USB/Firewire/eSATA drive.
Shares all the same feature as the WD "My DVR Expander" 500gig eSATA drive.
But when I install it (exactly according to the TIVO instructions), it is
not recognized by my TIVO HD unit.

Has anyone else made this unit work?

It'll work as-is on a Series3, but you have to open up the TiVo HD and
manually marry it to the internal drive to use it on a TiVo HD as it
is not approved for use. The drive identifies itself differently so
the TiVo HD doesn't recognize it.

The standard upgrade procedure used for adding a second drive to any
TiVo. Pull the drives, connect them to a PC, use MFSTools (or WinMFS)
to formate the drives and marry them.
