| I have an ARII board that was putting out +12 on the +5. I rebuilt it with
the bob roberts kit, and now I get +5 on the +5. However, the game won't
come up, and the red LED is not lit on the PCB. Swapping in a known good
ARII board, and it works fine. What else to check?

Hey Chuk,
BTW - I had a voltage regulator go on my ARII which caused a similar
prob. If the BR kit included one (7805?), then that's probably what
got you back to +5. If not, I'd meter around those to see if they're
doing their job.

I had been testing the +5 on the AR board, not the game board. When I
replaced the 2N3055, the solder created a "moat" around one of the pins.
There was plenty of solder there, but none of it was actually touching the
pin. Gobbed some more on, and all is well.

Glad to hear it!
>> There was plenty of solder there, but none of it was actually touching the pin.
-Since that's happened to me from time to time, does anyone have a good
way to clean off(?) components that don't tend to attract the solder -
avoiding the prob. that Chuk had above? >> Stay informed about: TECH: Asteroids ARII board |
