I was shocked when I check the price they asked for a virtual item in one of
the game I currently playing. It's Risk Your Life 2 hosted in Malaysia...
The game is Free to Play, and they have something called "Avenger Items",
which is essentially uber stats weapons/armors/shields in game. I am at
level 60++ and is already able to equip the best sword they offer (i.e. The
items they offer is just mid-game level, not the final equipments - I am
assuming the game have a maximum level of 99 or 100 - judging from the
content and the highest level players in ranking), so I checked out the
price they asked for. It's ain't easy to find but I managed to dit that info
out from their badly designed/maintained website.
Each item is priced at 6000 rp (resource point), and since this game was
converted from Pay to Play to Free to Pay, they accept month card as a way
to exchange for the so called Resource Point. 1 month card can be exchanged
for 1500 rp. So to get one uber (but not TOP grade, since the item offerd
are just A grade, but the top grade could be AAAAA grade, yes 5 A's)
mid-level item, I'll have to buy 4 month cards at RM38 (approx. $10 USD)
each.
So I'm curious, will any of you guys willing to buy a mid-level uber (but
not ultimate) item for $40 USD?
What I noticed, quite a lot of non-Malaysian players did buy the itmes, but
not to use them as equipment, but as a sacrifice for upgrading thier items
(The game allow of upgrading equipments via combining 2 equipments of same
type, same grade, taking the value of the sacrifice item add to the value of
the original item). I doubt many Malaysians would be buying these items
since 4x RM38 = RM152 is a pretty big sum, given the average monthly salary
of most youngsters (gamers) here ranging from RM600 to RM800. (approx. $158
to $210 USD).
These companies are really going money crazy.....

WOW!!! too much expensive! just to enhance your weapon, you have to spend money. hehehe!!!! it is ok if you really want to be the strongest, but in mid-level weapon. its INSANE.. Just IMO. >> Stay informed about: Survay: How much would you pay for virtual items in MMORPGs? |

for an item like that, yeah, $40 is just too much. The best of the free to play's are the ones that you literally never have to buy the virtual currency. These types usually have everything available for trade in game not only for the real life money equivilent. So you can either buy the item yourself or trade in game currency for it I know alot of people who have fun, get all the upgrades they needed, and still never paid a cent. >> Stay informed about: Survay: How much would you pay for virtual items in MMORPGs? |
