Been going through some boxes of stuf in the loft and rediscovered this
oddity

For general interest people might like to see the Megadrive mario game...

It's actually quite fun to play, some's spent some time on the game and
ripped all the graphics by the look of it... the odd thing is you jump
through the blocks rather than headbutting them which feels a tad odd in the
Mario universe.

My cart's label looks different, but as it's a hack I'm sure it has all
sorts of label pics and name(hell, it has *two* title screens).

As for the game itself, you're right, it's not too bad at all. The first
few levels were obviously ripped from SMB All Stars, but after that, and
I just found out about this a while back, they are *all* ripped from
another Mega Drive game. Can't remember what it's called, but I'll look
around for it today. I need to change the quick review to reflect what
I've found(just haven't gotten around to it) because, sadly, I was under
the impression that the hacker simply jacked the SMB levels and then
everything else was brand new...add to that that it's a pretty fun, NES
Chip-n-Dale-like game and you've got something pretty impressive. Once
you find out the entire concept, plus 95% of the levels were just
imported from another MD game...it just becomes another lame hack, by
another lazy hacker. Sad

Alright, rather than do it later, here is some YouTube(gag) footage of SMB:

Here is the game it's actually coying, Squirrel King(a Chip'n Dale:
Rescue Rangerf{from the NES}) knockoff:

So, SMB(this version of it, believe it or not there's another version of
SMB floating around, though I can't find the rom, that *is* a complete
port of SMB1 from SMB Allstars) is hack of a copy. Brillian! Wink

Cool, ta for the info... think I'll play it through a bit more, I'd figured
it was gonna be lots of similar levels. A fun enough curiosity anyway!
