This won't help to answer your question, but with all the frobable
doors that you can't pick lock or get into, I gave up on the game. I
think I had only found the gem.

I didn't find enough loot to finish on Expert. I got tired of looking but I
did find all the items required. The builder's chisel is on top of a
workbench in the Mechanist's room that is across the street from the
Slaughtered Burrick Pub.
