Back when I was hooked on Diablo 2 I loved playing my Summon/Poison
Necromancer. Lately I have been craving a summoner fix again.
Anyone have a suggestion for a RPG/MMO game that allows for some nice
summoning action?

I should have been a bit more specific, I'm not talking about summoning
one or two creatures, I'm talking a whole army of summons ala D2.

It's an old game, but "Magic and Mayhem" had awesome summoning action.

I really like the Warlock from WoW, a great summoning class if you
overlook the stupid looking Void Walker (it is effective but looks like
a bag of blue jello wearing pimp bracelets). EQ2 necromancers are also
good. I didn't care for necromancers in GW because the spells and
creatures only last less than a minute or so, it takes too much
constant fiddling to maintain buffs and summoned creatures.

There's nothing like summoning a horde of undead rogues, warriors,
priests and mages in Ironforge, to be honest. If you're ready for
plenty of clever but annoying minions, go warlock in WoW Wink

CoV has a mastermind class where you can summon a batch of minions to do your
bidding. I think the final total that you can summon will be 7 at once, 4 cheap
guys, 2 medium, and 1 higher minion. Once their new patch comes out, I7, I will
be heading back to try out the thug MM.

On that special day, Uwe Reithuber, (koh@gmx.net) said...

Warning: Spellforce is a hybrid of RPG (your character can fight and
summon companions, but only on certain maps) and real time strategy;
you've got to create workers, have them collect wood/iron/stone, make
buildings and then create soldiers.

It wasn't exactly my cup of tea.

Ah, Information. A property, too valuable these days, to give it away,
