I was playing my 35 Human warrior and met up with my son on his 34 NE
hunter in Duskwood. We decided to run together for a bit, just goofing
around and having fun. Just for grins I took him to see Emiriss (boss
dragon in Duskwood) for the first time. He gave a big *gulp* at first
sight. We just watched him for a minute and son was using hunters
Eagle Eye to look around the area. He said "hey dad, there's a portal
behind the dragon". Then he said " I think I can make it" and before I
could say anything else he popped Aspect of the Cheetah and took off
running towards the portal. Needless to say, he was a dragon snack
pretty quick. We laughed it off and he spirit-resed and came back to
where I was standing, still watching the dragon. He said "your turn
dad" and I said what the heck and took off running with reckless
abandon. By amazing chance I timed it perfectly and actually made it
to the portal without becoming a dragon treat. I was disappointed to
find that walking through the portal did nothing but bring you to a
blank wall on the other side. After coming back to the front side of
the portal, I suddenly thought "now what do I do?" I took off running
back to the safe area and was horrified to "feel" the thuds of the
dragon footsteps close behind. I was within a few steps of the safe
area when he caught up with me.....*crunch*........
We had big laughs over this tomfoolery.....

Indeed. I once managed to edge my 35 paladin around the area and
get to the portal without being noticed (no special stealth, just
being careful). There's a safe area behind the platform holding
the portal.

I was noticed on the way back, though, and one little nudge
was enough to send me to the GY.

very nice story and quite an adventure, i think a lot of people have
forgotten to play that way.

however, these portals lead to the emmerald dream, which is not implemented
yet.

I never understood powerleveling with my first char either but when I had 3+
lvl 60 (before BC) I could understand it perfectly.

Same here. And I play with my son also. He tends to "barbarian"
everything no matter what class he is playing. I tend to almost "rogue"
everything no matter what class I am playing.

He is amazed that I can spend alot of time in zones that are full of
things I cant kill. And I can even pull off quite a few quests.

When he sees a camp with a chest he tends to attack the camp. I tend to
walk around the wall of hills behind it and creep down to it until I
barely turn the gear gold.

Ive been tempted to try a total non-fighter. Maybe a priest? Or a paladin
for self-buffs? A night elf for extra stealth? or a dwarf for "find
tresure"? See how far I can get by doing non-combat quests, getting
points for exploring, using gathering skills. I would probably try it on
an RP server. Maybe a PvP server just for extra fun and extra quality of
connection which would count for alot.
