All the guys near you when the round starts are on your side. The
counter-terrorists (CT) all have military/police looking uniforms, while
the terrorists (T) have a mixed bag of attire. You can start a server
on your own computer and play against bots. That might be the easiest
way to see what the models look like and also learn your way around the
various maps. This will also help you get acquainted with the RADAR.
You really need to pay attention to it. All the maps don't have
hostages, some have bomb sites. The map names that start with CS have
hostages, so the T's will be defending them, while the CT's attack to
try a rescue. The maps starting with DE have bomb sites. On those
ones, the CT's defend the bomb sites while the T's try to blow them up.
There are many other custom map types available, but these are the two
most widely played. Google for Counter-Strike : Source, and you'll find
much more information.
