Is there any way to slow this down a la the MegaDrive and Snes versions?

I had a similar problem with Frogger. Turned out my router was the culprit.

See if you router is compatible with xbox live.

It was my router. I had a "denial of service" attack firewall thing turned
on in there... and once I turned that off... BAM!... I'm in the games!
