Strange glitch (another one!)

I had a character I'll call Bill Beautiful. He left his family for
Jennifer Burb, so he became Bill Burb. Then she died. After a while,
he went bcak to his family and became Bill Beautiful again.

But the computer had generated an NPC called Bill Burb that popped up on
community lots back when he was Bill Burb. When he went back to being
Bill Beautiful, it didn't change it.

So now when I play other lots and Bill is a third-party, there are two
of "him": Bill Burb and Bill Beautiful. Grrrr....

Are there two sim files? Can you see two versions of him in SimPE? If so I
think I have an idea about this one - I'm pretty sure I've read about it at
MATY.
