semi-n00b/eldster questions:
Do the newer versions of mame have the Star Trek rom corrected so the voice
sounds works properly? Using a .6 derivative in win, and a .32 dos.
The problem(s) with the sound:
When a sector is first entered, all the sounds play.
Spock: "Start"
Spock: "Entering Sector blah point blah"
Scotty: "Damage Repaired Sir!"
The only sound that *should* play is Spock's voice announcing the sector.
When you touch the starbase, nothing but the 'dong' sounds. (this may be
normal... it's been a while since I played an original.)
------
and/or another problem, possibly related:
Scotty says: "Damage Repaired Sir" as you leave the level (which may be
normal, I can't remember,) and again when you enter the next one *before*
the above error crops up (which I'm sure is a problem.)
so sometimes I get:
Scotty: "Damage Repaired Sir!"
-leave level
-enter next level
Scotty: "Damage Repaired Sir!"
Spock: "Start"
Spock: "Entering Sector blah point blah"
Scotty: "Damage Repaired Sir!"
Has this been fixed, and if so, what is the earliest version number that
works properly, and is there a DOS version that works properly.
(Oddly enough, the "Congratulations, High Score" sound works fine and only
plays at the right time.)
------
Regardning Ninja Kid2,
I am sure I played a mame of this with sound, yet all of my roms say no
sound. The problem is I lost all my old roms in a system death a long time
ago, and had to get them again, but didn't bother with NK2. Now that I'm
interested in finding it, all of them seem to be... uh, mute. Was there
ever a rom version that had sound? Or am I just... old.
Joe

Thanks. Won't run on the hardware I'm using though. So is there and *old*
rom which works with version .6 or .32? Or is there additional roms I need
for the older verisons for the osund to work?
TIA
