Archived from groups: rec>games>roguelike>angband (more info?)

First off, I would like to say how much I'm enjoying playing Steamband. The
amount of work the maintainers have done on this is staggering, and I'd like
to thank them for creating this.

Second, I have a question regarding one of the enigmatic devices-the
Detective's Kit. What is the skill tied to this device? By that I mean that,
as I understand it, Gageteering benefits all engimatic devices, and the
individual skills correspond to one device each (utility bandolier,
clockwork chassis, clockwork carbine). But what skill corresponds to the
Detective's Kit?

I have version 0.4.0 (is this the current/newest version?), and the other
skills are: velocipede, analytic engine, pyrotechnics, etc., but nothing
that seems to correspond to the detective's kit. Is there such a skill? Do
engineers get it? If so, at what level, or activated by what other skills?

I notice from browsing the device that it has a lot of interesting powers
I'm looking forward to trying, once I can figure out what (besides
gageteering) activates them.

Many thanks,
Ed
PS. Crossposting to RGRA and Steamband Yahoogroup, since I'm not sure which
would know the answer Smile

It has it's own skill. Engineers don't get that particular skill, but other
classes do, or at least as an option. There are skill "spoilers" in with the
program somewhere. Gadgeteering does affect all the enigmatic device skills.

Ah, okay, thanks for clarifying that. The spoiler I am using:

http://www.techfocus.net/~stanza/games/steamband_beginners_guide.html

while helpful and informative, appears to be from an older version, when
engineers still had that skill. Is 0.4.0 the current version, or am I
missing one? Also, are there any suggestions or other help/spoilers you know
of?

0.4.0 is the current version, and is hosted at
