Valve announces a concept where your saved games and keyboard layouts
are saved online, interesting idea:

I've got an easier one for them to implement - store the MAC of the
network adaptor last used to connect to them, and bypass verification
if the same one appears the next time.

Reason:

I use linux on the same physical hardware that I use windows on, and I
have to re-enter my password because of "your account was used on a
different computer" prompt.

Probably easy to do
But I can think of quite a few reason why the concept is doomed beforehand

1) Mac address is very very easy to spoof

That might be the case, but if an account is already in use, it should
already be bouncing the login.

If it isn't in use, and the MAC is the same, what's the problem ?

What would happen if there is a network fail? Could we play
off-line? And when the line comes back, synchronize with
the savegame website?
