Wait till you see the heavy flamer. It's like a shotgun with twice the
range, twice the spread and four times the damage. >> Stay informed about: Squad Command on the DS / PSP |

Like what? Space Dorfs? I never got round to getting Fire Warrior,

Tau is the army I play in 40K, mainly because they are different from
all of my brother's armies. I liked the idea of them more than the
other armies he doesn't have - 'Nids, 'Crons or Dark Eldar.

I have it for PC and PS1. It was too hard to play with the PS1 controller
as to win it involved some very fine - read with a mouse - selection of
where to march troops to get an advantage. You also needed to discover the
magic items hidden in weird places to gain an advantage in future combats.
I also have a Microsoft Virtual PC machine running Windows 95 and Direct X
3 so I can play it occasionally.

Is that actually necessary to run it, or can you run it in XP using
Compatibility mode?

I've never been able to get either Final Lib. or Chaos Gate to run in
Compatability mode with XP.

I would have liked to have seen
- 40K vehicle game using the Panzer Elite Action engine.
- Squad based 40K FSP using the Halo 2 engine

Yes it is necessary because the screen modes are not supported by later
versions of Direct X. The beauty of runninh the VPC is that you can also
window what was once only a full screen game.

Okay, you've sold me on that.
I was thinking of trying dual-boot, but that seems like way too much
trouble.

Virtual PC is a freebie download from Microsoft
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx)
.. I have 2004, I see it's now up to version 2007. Once you get Virtual PC up
& running, you can install any OS you like, bit you'll need to supply your
own install media.
Cheers, Martyn

For Final Liberation what I found worked was to install it on a Windows 2000
Pro PC, then patch it, then copy the reg entry and installed files to my XP
Pro PC - ran it fine in compatibility mode. The patch won't install on XP,
hence the use of 2000 to get the install complete.

I quite enjoyed Fire Warrior. The first Space Marine you encounter is a
real bitch to kill, but once you have a shiny bolter it becomes a bit
easier.

Yeah no one mention isos or CDs of Windows 95 least Smeathem, Jimi, and
Myr reappear in the middle of arguing about who is the dastardly
