Unfortunately, yes. I have shaken every tree in the whole town for
days now, and I can't get a spider for either one of my characters.

well, i will have to check, but maybe they are out of season? i hope so, for
your sake, because to my knowledge there is no way to trade or give bugs to
eachother. even if one character has a spider, but the other does not,
leaving it in your house for the other character to pick up wont work. you
could have it in your rucksack, but it wont show up as if you caught it in
your inventory.

That is what I figured, and they aren't out of season in the month I
am playing. I guess I am just out of luck. I have two characters and
that and a banded dragonfly are the only two insects they both need.

Well, I do have some good news for you... I thought about it last night, and
it has been a while, but i seem to remember the spider as a sort of random
thing. You'll just have to keep shaking the trees, and you WILL eventually
get one. It could take a couple of weeks, or even a month, but one will
fall. And you'll definitely notice it. Just keep shaking the trees. Also,
you might get it from a tree that you already shook earlier on in the day,
so just because you've already shook a certain tree, don't think you don't
have to do it again. And as for the dragonfly, that's just pure luck, as I'm
sure you know.
