You're not taking up player spots, spectator slots are seperate from
playing slots. Some servers are designed to kick people for being idle
but it shouldn't affect you when you're in a spec slot. There are also
systems that exist that allow server owners to designate reserved slots
for their friends/clan members/etc that will auto kick a person to make
room for a person with the reserve slot password. I've never experienced
this myself but I know it exists but don't know if it gives you a
message. Usually you will get a screen saying why you were kicked.
As for controlling a node not on your control vector it can still be
useful. For example vehicles or weapons like the airstrike may spawn near
that node. Also when a ONS game goes into overtime the number of nodes
you hold & how long you are holding them determines how fast the enemy
core drains to zero. So sometimes a seemingly useless node can come in
handy in certain circumstances.
If you get into one of those situations where you can't move it's often a
spawning bug specific to the map. Going to a spec slot then rejoining
will fix it but of course you will then lose all your points.
I don't really find people on servers expect you to socialize while
spectating so it's unlikely you were kicked for that reason. It is
possible that a web admin saw the need to enter or simply wanted to enter
as a spec & both spec slots were full allready so they kicked you simply
for that reason. It's a common courtesy to explain something like that
but you'll find some admins aren't quite as courteous as others.
