Funny thing is that in a way Sony did the whole achievements thing
first with the
Skill Points system from Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank games.The
concept is the same,get rewards for doing specific tasks.I actually
like the SP's more since
you get actual rewards for them,hopefully the rumours of Microsoft
doing the same with achievement points is true.

Yeah accomplishments sounds better i agree. Admit it achievements
would make you buy a multi-platform game for 360 over PS3 any day.
GTA4 Xbox 360 > GTA4 PS3. Soley because achievements. Sounds petty i
know but its reason enough since theyll probably be basically the same
game, besides seperate DLC.

Um, no. I know a ton of games that did that sort of thing for decades before
that game. The whole point of the Achievements thing was multiuser,
multigame connectivity.

At least accomplishments is closer in spirit to achievements. Entitlements
sends the wrong message - or maybe the right one if you consider Sony and
their upcoming blitz of microtransactions.

Sony seems to be on a real roll as far as missing the boat.
"Entitlements"? What kind of idiotic name is that? By definition,
that would mean everybody would get points the moment they loaded the
game onto the system, by virtue of being "entitled" to it. That
pretty much goes against the whole concept of getting points by
deciding to complete specific tasks. Maybe Insomniac should take over
management at Sony.....after all, their game is pretty much propping
up the launch lineup, and "skill points" is a term that actually makes
sense.

If youve played PS3 online youd have so much more to bitch about than
JUST that. Sony is waaaay behind Microsoft when it comes to a viable
online service AND one patch isnt going to do it.
