Kudos to gamesindustry.biz for quoting Sony worldwide studio chief Phil
Harrison slagging off the two Microsoft Xbox 360's at the GDC eight
months ago:

"Are there two versions that people want to buy, is my question. I
don't know. When I look at those formats, I think it just confuses the
audience. They don't know which one to buy, developers don't know which
one to create for, and retailers don't know which one to stock. I think
we wouldn't take that strategy. We wouldn't create confusion."

The sad thing is, Phil was right. There should never have been 2 SKU's
for 360, and there should never be 2 of them for the PS3. They should
not have a "Tard" version of either system, just price the damn thing
at your best price and be done with it. If you can't make them for
cheaper than $600 don't try to cheese us off with some shitty wattered
down version so you can claim it's under $500. Have some damn balls.
Don't try to insult us. We may not want to spend $600 for your console
but we definitely don't want to spend $500 for a cheaper rip-off
version.

I don't. I bought the $299 360 because the Premiums were sold out, and
bought the HD with it. I like wired controllers, anyway.

Didn't get an HD til 2 weeks later.

The Xbox headset worked/works fine with it.

I own a DVD player - I never ever use my Xbox or 360 for DVD playback.

So you paid the same price as the premium but didn't get the HD cables, the
wireless controller, the headset, the DVD remote or the media center remote?

Why?

In my case, I prefer them, because on the 360, it is lighter. Also, I
can trace the wire and find it. I have my 360 set up in a
office/bedroom, and don't have a lot of space, so wired is better. In
case where there is no wire hookup to recharge there is also the chance
of the battery running out.
