Ok, while I was trying to take Playa's advice about several smaller groups
the SoB list conspires against me trying to do that. Basic troop Sisters
have to come in units of at least 10; Dominions had started to look like a
better fit than Retributors for CP until I remembered their vehicle was a
MANDATORY upgrade; and Seraphim are just dang expensive for anything other
than a bare-bones unimproved unit of 5. So I reluctantly backed away from
my all-mechanized CP concept and give you my second take on it:

Sisters of Battle Combat Patrol - 399 pts, 22 models, 2 Faith Points

Troops: Battle Sisters squad x10 - 122 pts
-2x Flamers

Elites: Celestians x 6 - 118 pts (Faithful, 1 Faith Point)
-2x meltaguns
-Vet Sup w/ BP+PW

Fast Attack: Seraphim x 6 - 159 pts (Faitful, 1 Faith Point, +1 to Ld for
nearby units)
-Twin Hand Flamers
-Vet Sup w/ BP + PW (acts as Simulacrum Imperialis)

So now I have 3 units - one gunline, one slightly assaulty unit for power
armor/light vehicle hunting (assuming the meltas get close enough of course)
and one mobility unit. My biggest question now is, is it worth keeping the
Seraphim at 6? If I take them down to 5 models I gain back enough points to
either put a Vet Sup with a power weapon back into the 10-woman unit, or I
could give meltabombs or a set of twin-linked inferno pistols to the
Seraphim for more mobile antivehicle capability. I know even numbered
squads are typically better for break tests, but with the Seraphim's Hit and
Run ability giving them a bit of a safety cushion, is it worth dropping them
to 5 for some more toys?

Again, thoughts/criticisms gladly accepted. I'd like to get this thing
worked into a more-or-less stable form and start painting this weekend if
possible!

Thanks again,
Ken

Hey,

An antitank FA Unit should be the centerpiece of any CP list, imo.

This tactic means taking a minimum-size sacrificial Troops Unit.

Since survival for six turns is your Primary Objective, I'd say not.

Still, they should take as much Tank/ Hero killiness as possible.

I say butch your Seraphs *way* up, even if at the expense of another
Unit.

Pity about the mandatory 'minimum 10' Troops thing.

Good luck!

Can sisters still take Frateris Militia or similar? They'd make for
some cheap cannon fodder.

Tell me about it. The minimum 10 sisters thing has scuttled about 5 good
workable list ideas already. I honestly think it's going to come down to a
2-unit CP; one really decent Seraphim unit, then just buy as many Troop
sisters as I can afford with the leftovers - a unit of 14 or so it looks
like. I guess they just aren't optimized for CP.

Yeah, supposedly there's a WD with Militia as a Chapter Approved addon for
Sisters/Witch Hunters, but I could get (roughly) the same effect with
Inquistorial stormtroopers. And that's not a totally unattractive option -
I have the pre-Kasrkin stormies (forget what the nickname is for them) I
grabbed for my long-way-down-the-road Daemonhunters list, and it wouldn't be
a bad thing to get them painted up also. I could take 6 of those guys for my
mandatory Troops, then rock out on Seraphim and maybe even some Dominions.
But if I did that I'd just as soon make a pure Inquisitorial Stormies CP,
since I've got 30+ of the little bastids with a good mix of special weapons
and a Rhino earmarked for them. I just wish it was easier to make a nice,
balanced pure SoBs patrol force without hitting my head on that"minimum 10
troops" bar all the time.

In any event, I appreciate the feedback. It's apparently going to rain here
all weekend, so priming is out, but I guess I can make myself finally finish
stripping those Stormies and maybe start in on the Sisters I already have
primed. Thanks again!
