Well, fellow simmers, I've returned for good or evil. I hope you're
glad to see me because I'm glad as hell to see you.
I just finished getting this new computer to work after spending many
tiresome hours sorting wires, tweaking icons which are totally
unfamiliar to me and wondering why things stop working. I have a long
way to go. I still don't have FS9 installed and I miss it like crazy.
I long for the days when I could just relax after dinner on a nice
flight to Vancouver over the Rockies and just worry about little
things, like crashing into mountains.
I love the new computer and the monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 970P) in
case anyone would like to take a look at it. I'm so looking forward to
seeing the difference in my flying experience which is the ONLY reason
I bought this monster. I truly hope it doesn't disappoint me. I don't
think it will.
One last thing, and I don't want you people to think I'm being sappy,
but of all the things I missed while I didn't have a computer, your
company day after day was missed most of all. I'm glad to have landed
back at my home airfield. I hope to share a coffee and some good
stories with all of you.

Oh, Woody, you should pay attention. I wrote about it just before I
went to get it a few days ago.
OK, but I'll have to be brief:
Asus P5AD2 Mobo (still not sure what that is but it sounds so techie)
P4 3.0 gig (Yeah, I know about AMD but this particular dealer deals in
Pentium).
2 gig RAM
19" Samsung SyncMaster TFT-LCD monitor using 1280 x 1024 resolution
ATI Radeon x1300 video card which was the limit of my budget (I know
they go up to x1600 or whatever but, like, wow.....don't think I need
it).
One of the real neat features of the monitor is the base. It has an
'elbow' fastened to the base which allows it to be adjusted in a
zillion different ways and since that's the way I fly, it's perfect.
Regardless, I gotta like this one because it's all I'm going to have
for a while.
I just can't wait to fly this thing.....maybe tomorrow and I'll make it
a 'tweaky tuesday'.
Let you know how I make out in the air real soon.

Snake,
Soooooooo, tell us. How is your new toy? What did you get? I'm sorry If I
missed it or wasn't paying attention.
Isn't it strange how addicted we got to this Newsgroup. I try to check it
at least once a day. Sometimes, during the week I check my email before I
leave in the morning and then again at night before I fly. Would you believe
I sometimes check this out twice a day...... Only for a few seconds there
M8's lets not get too carried away. Heehaw.

Hey gringo!
Howsa you doin, eh?
> I love the new computer and the monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 970P) in
That's a beautiful screen, my friend.
And it's height adjustable. Could you be any happier?
I had to set mine on some old boxes to get it to the right height.
I can't believe it's so difficult to get a widescreen LCD monitor that's
not only the right colour but height adjustable too.
But you found one!

Many thanks, Marcel. Yeah, I like the monitor very much. Still trying
to get the bugs out of the computer though and I think it just might
take me a few more days. I'm hangin' tough : )
