Hey

I recently bought a Mac G4 PowerBook with 1,5 GHz and 1,25 gb ram. It's
remarkably slower running FM than my PC with 2 GHz (Pentium Mobile) and 1 gb
ram. I always thought the amount of ram was most important - guess not?

/Lars

not too sure how it runs on the Mac, as its a somewhat different
system architecture toa 'standard' PC.

a few years ago, RAM would have been the controbuting factor, but now
FM is much more complex, i imagine ~CPU clockspeed is becoming
important too.

How many leagues are you trying to run?

My brother has a Pentium3 clocked up to 2.8GHz whereas I have a Pentium4
running at 3.2GHz.

The difference is quite substantial. I think the Hyper Threading of the P4
makes a huge difference, as the past couple of games were designed with this
feature in mind. (options/preferences/threading on/off)

Just four, with large database. It's not really a problem - I'll just play
on my PC, but it made me wonder...

strange. i wonder if it's more to do with it being coded for the PC
platform, then ported over to the mac without any real optimisation
taking place.
