OK, I was using two faqs (probably a good thing since there are things
on each that are missing) and this is my list. Not surprising, it
looks kinda familiar.

FireRed in GBA slot

#010 Caterpie, #011 Metapod, #023 Ekans, #024 Arbok, #058 Growlithe,
#239 Elekid,

LeafGreen in GBA slot

#013 Weedle, #014 Kakuna, #027 Sandshrew, #028 Sandslash, #035
Vulpix, #240 Magby,

Ruby in GBA slot

#273 Seedot, #274 Nuzleaf, #303 Mawile, #335 Zangoose, #338 Solrock,

Sapphire in GBA slot

#270 Lotad, #271 Lombre, #302 Sableye, #336 Seviper, #337 Lunatone,

Emerald in GBA slot

#204 Pineco, #207 Gligar, #213 Shuckle, #216 Teddiursa, #217
Ursaring,

Except for Emerald (I have no idea about it) it looks like they are
the version exclusives. I would have to double check but that is what
my memory tells me.

Also, according to one of the faqs I was using some pokes that are
normally available (and some that are evolutions like Gengar) are
available in different places with carts in. I didn't do those ones
'cause you can get them elsewhere. Except for Gemgar I guess. In the
painting room of the Haunted House in Eterna Forest with all carts.

daramark --> now I will post the swarm ones, since Steffan can't
remember that Illumise is available regularly. Smile

Your theory holds water (apart from the Caterpie and Weedle families, but
they're rarer in each version). As I recall, the Emerald Pokémon were the
GSC ones that became available in Emerald's Safari Zone after obtaining the
National Dex.

Heh, well, I've not yet reached Route 229. That's my defence!

Does this work at any point during the game, or do you need the
National Dex first?

I think that you need the National dex first, I've not seen anything
unusual and I've been playing with green in my other slot.

You do need the National Dex first. The only way to get Pokémon other than
the Sinnoh Dex's 150 before getting the National Dex is to trade them from
another copy of Diamond or Pearl. Swarms, the mansion, bonus Safari Zone
monsters, GBA insertion, the Super Rod, the Pokéradar and Pal Park all
require the National Dex.

That really sucks, especially since, from the guides I've poked through,
there's actually not much to do after you beat the E4 and/or get the
National - a couple of new areas to get some uniques, the stuff you just
mentioned to help finish your 'dex, and a Battle Tower. I suppose
Crystal and Emerald spoiled me. Razz And I also suppose it'll change in a
year or two when they put out the third version for this generation. Smile

I find I end up spending more time playing when it ISN'T the story mode.
It's been weeks since I did anything plot-based - I've just been training
and evolving.

Yeah, I agree - I reckon the next release will be the third in the DP
trilogy. Much though I'm dreaming of a GSC remake ...

It is possible to get the hedgie legendary, though, right? Without going
to a tour? BECAUSE I WANT THAT HEDGEHOG. It's too adorable not to. D:

I'm hoping that they run it like animal crossing and have downloads
available on certain days.
OF course I might be slightly less miffed about the legendaries if my
so called "friends" hadn't told me the day after the Mew event that it
had been local, well about 40 miles away but as local as these things
get.

My theory is it'll be item-unlocked. Remember Deoxys? How a ticket would
let you sail to the island? A bit like that. You don't need the Pokémon,
just the item - in this case, a ticket.

Course, the item might still require a tour, but my theory is that they'll
give them away via Wi-Fi. Might be wishful thinking, though.

Want to borrow mine for the 'Dex entry? Or did you just want your
own, rather than just for completion's sake?

(Either way, you'll have to wait until I've beaten the Elite Four so
that I can access Pal Park ...)

Nope, the annoying thing is that the couple who told me know how into
the games I am as I was the one who got them playing them.
To be fair to them, they know that I am pretty much housebound,(well bed
ridden at the moment,) and that going anywhere is a bit of a production.

Thanks, I was looking to get one to train, but I've pretty much resigned
myself to the fact like celebi and deoxys it's not going to happen.

I thought the Deoxys ticket could be transferred between games.

And I'm still holding out hope for Celebi. It's BOUND to come to the UK
eventually, right? I mean, it's the only one that hasn't.
