EA has updated the Sims 3 website, added a new video and screenshots
in both the Screenshot and Create-a-Sim section.
This Friday there is supposed to be a fan-event in Holland for The
Sims 3, so more info will be released later this week.

I find it interesting that they released the info now and not at E3 or
the fanevent.

I have to agree with you on that one.

I so hope they do, though knowing EA they won't answer anything about
it.

Keep in mind that EA's Sims programmers are not known for their
designing, be it houses, sims or clothes. But it's true that the older
images of the females all have the same face with some variations.
I'm still not sure about buying it, unlike with the Sims 2 I think I
might wait a bit to see what the verdict of Sims players is going to
be.

I was wondering if EA were going to update with E3 coming up.
Eugh... Hate the camo flood-filled room in that screenshot - matching camo
clothes, furniture and curtains... Almost like a T$R payset.
Interesting to note that there are six levels of fitness going off that
image in Creat-a-Sim. I see that Maxis have started putting an effort into
creating sims that look unique, unlike the clones in the original
screenshots.
Is it me, or do the animations look no different (or only marginally
different) to existing Sims 2 ones in that video? I wonder if the ageing can
be turned off, because it looks like (assuming that what you are seeing is
the real neighbourhood) it'll be heavily populated, and if everyone ages
quickly, it doesn't offer many opportunities for my sims to get to know the
neighbours properly.
It'll be interesting to see how the fan event turns out - apparently there's
to be a Q & A session, and I wouldn't put it past someone to mention
SecuROM, seeing as it could be one of the main driving factors in pushing
people AWAY from EA and The Sims in general.

Is it just me, or do all those female sims look alike in Create-a-Sim?
Other than hair and skin color, there's not a nickel's worth of
difference between any of them that I can see. I like to make my sims
distinctive looking, but those females all look smooth and slick and
completely artificial. And the males mostly look like they smell
something....

I thought that about the females, like they had got a face and just shown
what changes skin colour made, and hair style and if they made any other
adjustments they did it so little I can't see it!

Also the eyes! They don't look anymore real than in Sims 2. I never really
noticed it until I downloaded some default realistic looking eyes and that
is when my sims came to life!! LOL I could not believe the difference the
eyes made.

Well, I'm sure it wouldn't be long before more realistic eyes and skins
are available for Sims 3, too, in the modding community. It's another
thing I think I will wait for before running out and buying the game.
I have decided that I will buy it, though, provided my computer meets
the minimum requirements for it. I don't know that I will get as deeply
involved with it as I am with Sims 2, especially if the entire
neighborhood is aging at the same rate. But, it might well be an
interesting time-passer, much like SimCities Societies has been for me.
Oddly enough, I have never felt the slightest compulsion to download
custom content for that game, or to get into the game files and tweak
things. I play it just as it came out of the box (no patches either --
if it ain't broke, don't mess with it) as a nice way to kill some time.
But I will wait until the bugs in Sims 3 are found and fixed by the
modders.
