Hi I had to format my hard drive and backed up the Sims2 files I thought
important. I have the expansion packs University and Nightlife. But the
problem is none of my neighborhoods are showing up or the new people etc.
Which files should you backup and where do they go to restore the game to
the previous settings? I think I have restored them to the wrong places.
Please help. It's taken years of playing to get where I was.I couldn't bear
to start at year zero again.BTW I have partitioned drive so D drive with the
download files etc are intact.Thanx

The files you need are those in My Documents/EAGames/The Sims 2. Your
neighborhoods are in there, just replace those in the new My Documents
folder with your old files and you should have your sims back. Do the same
with any of the other files you may have customised, such as Cameras if you
had a camera mod, transfer your downloads over and all should be as it was.

You need to replace the neighbourhood folders into the neighbourhood folder.

Ummm - your neighbourhoods, which are your saved games, were located in

My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighbourhoods

These are folders and they would have names like N001, N002 etc.

You put them back in the same place. Except, if you have saved N001, N002,
N003, G001 or whatever the other one is (these are all the Maxis hoods), you
should delete the versions of those that generated with the new installation
before you replace the old ones.

Best wishes
