Probably never just noticed before... but I was busy doing something else
while Free Time was booting and then I usually just right click over to
Veronaville. That is the neighbourhood I just only play. I take the cool
stuff out and families (like the Beakers) of the other Neighbourhoods and
drop it into Veronaville. Well tonight I was busy at the same time like I
said I looked over at the Desiderata Valley animation.
Whoa ! There is a train trestle and a steaming locomotive cruising down the
tracks !
Does that bad boy really work ? Does the train pass by in the Neighbourhood
?

If so I need to get that into Veronaville.

LOL I can't begin to move Veronaville sim life over to Desiderata.

Yes, I posted a picture about a week ago in binaries of the train going past
my station in neighbourhood view, if you want to take a look.

The train track is in the decorations file in the neighborhood
slot...you can place your own track..the train is like the hot air
balloon, flying pig, and flyinf saucer...it doesn't make regular and
routine trips but surpises you with its' appearance...(I do believe...at
least, that's been my experince playing Pleasnatbille, the only
non-fantasy place I play)...

It's a neighborhood decoration, so there's no need to "move" it. Just go to
your neighborhood screen, open the decorations and find the train trestle.
You'll see the train animation from time to time in the neighborhood view,
but the moving train isn't visible from within a lot. It's just like the
flying pig and UFO and the birds and the balloon and the clouds and all the
other animated neighborhood things.

The the train in Carping Magna: it appears every time I go back to
neighbourhood view so I'm seeing quite a lot of it steaming past the
station. It's pretty nicely done actually. And yeah, Richard, I should
have said, the track (trestle in America?) is in the neighbourhood
decorations section. You can have one wherever you like as long as you can
get it to sit in the neighbourhood - it doesn't like nearby lots.

Won't it do something bad to the game if you move families from one
neighborhood to another???

thanks...LS

Yes, it can but there's no guarantee it will always happen and it's a matter
of luck whether anything major happens early on. Sometimes you get very
unlucky indeed (ask Engram - or was it Jeanie?). The problem is
neighbourhood corruption. If you do it once or twice you are unlikely to
have problems, if you do it all the time, your neighbourhood can become
corrupted to the point of being non-playable or even disappear from the game
altogether. The most common early symptoms include corrupted memories (most
often show as wrong memories or blank memories and also conversation icons
with squiggly lines) and borked want slots (empty, adult wants with toddlers
and children, etc.) but there are a myriad of other things which come once
the corruption is advanced - e.g. problems with sims getting repeatedly
stuck, sims getting lost (don't come home from work or community lots) and
disappearing lots (this was discussed on the main sims group a while back).
The corruption is creeping and may not cause the neighbourhood to implode
for quite some time. If you often make new or restart neighbourhoods, it
might well be a problem you don't notice as you play. It's the kiss of
death to a player like me who plays the same neighbourhood for (literally)
years.

I guess everybody truly does play differently. For me, the genetics of this
game is the best part.

If you are playing with aging off for the entire neighborhood, the poor sim
will be perpetually pregnant, even if you were to play her house, I think.
Even if you had aging on, however, she would not have the babies until you
played her house. Sims can only give birth on their home lots. They don't
go into labor on community lots or while doing a walk-by on another lot.

That was me and I deleted some sims. Jump bug within 24 (real) hours. The
hood had been fine up until that point. It was not a big loss to delete the
hood because it was a hood specifically for doing contests so I already had
the sims extracted and wasn't playing them for anything other than to take
pictures of them doing stuff I directed them to do. I still was pretty
unhappy about it, though.

You always say that but you are the only one to say so really. Besides,
reading your other posts, you do have problems, you just don't ascribe them
to this cause plus, if I remember right, you have huge numbers of sims files
in your neighbourhoods. And finally, you haven't looked at the game code
and files in detail. If you did you would realise that Maxis made a mess of
this part of the game.

Do you have Seasons and is her name Samantha Ottomas? If you have Seasons
and you didn't put in empty or clean templates then she would have spawned
in the sim bin as part of the Ottomas family. That family tends to escape
out of the sim bin quite a lot. Samantha is in the Education career so
she'll also come home with any sims you have in that career track. It's just
that you saying that she is pregnant with twins makes me think of Samantha.
And if this is the case, then she did not come with the house but Maxis
foisted her on you as that family gets spawned in every hood if you don't
use empty or clean Seasons templates.

I am back in dutch Harbor Alaska now, I'll be here until Monday. So I can
answer.

I will go look for Samantha Ottomas. I have seasons, I do not have pets.
Nothing has been "cleaned" from my game that works once installed.
