The Sims seems to be a challenging, while also intriguing game, perhaps also
a kind of private BigBrother environment, and, in any case, intensively time
consuming. I only watch related reviews etc., I see that Electronic-Arts
http://www.ea.com has a lot extensions. But I had an idea, asking (myself)
if this could work.
A Barracks extension of The Sims -- an environment to play around with Sims
located & living in an army unit. I wonder if this could satisfy modern
military. But the historical wargamer -- interested in a deeper study of the
historical age concerned by his game -- could use such a setting in order to
(try to) learn about the social relationships and everyday life in
historical armies, this could be useful entertainment too. E.g. a unit in
real barracks, or in a WW1 trench etc. Any opionions?

*checks calendar* OK, it isn't April 1st - do they have something
similar in Germany on Dec 17th?

It's "fool an American day" - it all started back in 1944 when a few
pranksters on a dare drove a couple of panzer divisions through a
forest, in the middle of winter, along a mud trail

Great settings for real life RPG games, but in a computer game it
would feel restricted I think.

Sims in a table-top Sim game playing a table-top game ? Sounds like a

Well, the plan was to refuel at the Texaco gaz station at Bastogne,
but those bloody American tourists were blocking the roads - as usual.

The *only* thing that would get my playing THE SIMS would be the
introduction of firearms.

Maybe they'll think to bring along some gas the next time they try
that!

A full tank was 540 liters, at the current cost of 1.4 Euro/liter
that's 750 Euros or a cool $1000 for a "fill 'r up". I think the major
German problem was maxed-out credit cards

Eddy, you blow my mind! The things you know....
What about the Sims: Tin Foil Hat Adventures based on that MI5

eh, I live about a 100 km from Bastogne so I know what the local gas
prices are and currently the discussion in the Panther Games beta
forum (and the public forum) is about fuel consumption so combine
these two and you get the extremely "learned" post above

On closer inspection they are usually even more simple than you first
thought

Peoples playing RPG and also simulating their opponents within a
Sims-Extension setting -- this could also be funny and, perhaps, of game-use
too. Also, the RPG itself might contain a "simulation shell" and this would
be a "game-in-game"...
I would not think of mixing up a regular (RTS, Hex tc.) wargame with such a
"simmy game", as serious wargamers prepare themselves some way (reading,
studying etc.), a related Sims extension might turn to be a further and
(entertaining) help. Many games are accompanied (in the box or c/o the
website) by Trailer movies; what about giving away small Sims too?!
More ideas: a Sims about the (of course, ancient) Senate of Rome and zoos
I doubt whether table-top gamers would enjoy a Sims just about table-top
gamers
