Anybody else having trouble getting into Simbology? Both my sister and
myself are receiving database errors (and nothing else) when we go there.

I know, and I have to add that there seems to be a serious delay going on
here. I posted my message before I saw Rumpel's. I replied to her message
before I saw any of you reply to it and here it is a day later and you're
all just seeing my message now. *grah* Not happy with internet atm.

That's just weird because I'm definitely just posting single messages and
it's all working as it should on my end, no double posts or anything like
that.

Cheers!

I've seen one or two things that felt "old" but from assorted posters, and
anyway I couldn't swear they really were. My dad died last week ( he was 90
and while he hadn't been suffering from anything terminal his health has
been poor the last few months, so it wasn't a big shock ) and my head is all
over the place and most unreliable right now. But things have seemed a
little odd at times. Maybe posts are getting stuck in some server or other
then disgorged in a rush?

age when that event is going to be an imminent occurence..still though,

I swear my mum is looking down still shaking her head because I don't iron
stuff like she did! But yes, having lost MIL in the summer as well, it's
been a funny old year, but they were both old enough that we expected it.
It was different with FIL and my mum, they were too young at 60 and 69. But
now we are both fully orphaned it's just not right some how.

Oh, kat, I'm so sorry to hear that. My condolences to you and your
family. He had a good long life, though, and it seems easier to let
them go under those circumstances. At least it has been that way for me.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my father in 1988 at age 69 and my
mother in 2003 at 83. Made a big difference. And it felt funny for a
while realizing that my family are all descendants now and not
ancestors. That makes ME the matriarch of the family. Wow. My husband
lost both of his parents over 25 years ago, but he says it still brings
him up short once in a while to realize he's an orphan.

He had a pretty good life until the summer. Sure, he couldn't walk much, go
out except when we brought him here, or see much, but he could do enough to
look after himself, cook meals, do his laundry, enjoy talking books and the
radio. Phoned family and friends all the time and was generally cheerful.
Then he lost the remainder of his sight due to a cataract and had to come
and live here. As I had always suspected, once he stopped doing stuff for
himself he started to fade. The cataract was removed but he couldn't focus,
he had an assortment of minor things go wrong, and then an emergency hernia
repair and just about gave up. Went into rehab to get him moving again, got
an internal bleed, and went into hospital, and died a few days later of
bronchopneumonia. Or as I think of it, old age and bits wearing out.

I'll miss him, but it wasn't too hard to see him go as on the whole I think
it was for the best for him, and for me. I was getting to the point where I
couldn't look after him unless the rehab home did the trick, but hated
thinking about a nursing home. I'm an only child which made it harder, I was
dreading having to make a decision. I can't help but feel relieved I don't
need to, that we managed what he needed until the end.

But my head is definitely all over the place. It's a good thing my
husband reacts to events by wanted to organise things - I wouldn't know
where to start or be capable of following the instructions!

My cousin said losing the second parent was harder just because of that.
Both were a good age, both were ill for a while before, but being the oldest
one standing hits you!
