Considering there seemed to be an interest in playing some form of
DM and/or Lithium based on OscartheGrouch's server re-birth...
Got a Tourney Server at 68.0.38.121 (East Coast US)
Voting enabled for DM, Lith w/runes, Team DM and Rail only.
Voting enabled for maps, hook and config (game). There are
some custom maps in the rotation and can be found at:
ftp://65.30.181.223/quake2/-Auto-/Maps/ (Thanks Tom)
DM running DM 1-8.
Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback. Server will run 24/7 for now. If logs
don't show much if any action within a week or so, I'll take it
down and do something more productive with that box.
But in the future if anyone gets any urge to frag DM, and/or
Lithium style, I'll fire it up on notice!

Server logs didn't show much activity -- only a few visitors,
no fragging going on. Thanks Scrapple, Margolis for dropping
by and checking the scenery.
Took server off-line the other day. Can throw it up if the
desire is there to play DM/Lithium/Rail only games in the future.
Holler and it will be done ;-P
Happy Fraggin -

thanks for trying. It's a shame that not many people want to play older
games anymore. I still find a lot of them more fun than the newer games. I
really miss the q2 ctf servers like gouds, lasermine and netdoor. I had
lots of fun on those in the day, and that was with a 26.4k dialup
connection. I finally get cable and nobody is playing anymore ;o(

Hi Auto,
Thanks for trying. I'll be looking to play Q2 when I am able.

When I initially discovered CTF, I rarely went back to FFA/DM games. Team
games
rock. While I loved vanilla CTF and yes I've played the Lasermine and
Netdoor servers
with lots of fun, my absolute favorite ultimate team Q2 game was Jail Break.
That game
DEMANDED team coordination in order to win - no bones about it. I had loads
of
fun playing that mod! Good maps too! Oh yeah, how bout Loki Minion's
CTF..?!
Now that was great too, loads of maps, off-hand grapple, sounds etc....fun
fun fun fun.
Team WoD also was great fun, especially the latter versions in my opinion
(CTF)...
thanks Cy..!!
But at the end of the day as you've pointed out, not much interest
apparently from the
group other than a pickup Coop game every now and then....

No sweat. I lurk often. When the group gets
an urge to free for all frag, I can have the server
up straight away. Hell we can even password
protect it for those folks that read the newsgroup.
Anyway, thanks again for stopping by. But I didn't
put it up solely for my benefit, I did so for the NG to have
an opportunity to play on a different flavor of server.
A platform that provided free for all action (shoot
anything that moves), Rail only and Team DM.
Recent threads led me to believe that Coop was
the preferred server/game of the regulars. But then I saw a
mention of a new DM server so....I jumped in too
to offer additional choices.

I would have, but now I'm back on a dial-up connection that only lets me
stay online two hours at a time, I don't have the time or the bandwidth
