Hello All,

I was witness to a battle which occured over a Scav HW. The enemy
ships came to within 5ly and thus initiated combat. Both fleets where
all but destoyed, a few ships remain but damaged. My questions are
these:

Why are the wreckage pods not automatically dropped to the HW (or any
other scav base for that fact)? They are floating 5ly from the base.

Why did combat occur 5ly from the base (while the base was in the
vcr)? I beleive the larger numbers and being the defender ie Scav
fleet should have drawn the combat to them not have the attacking
fleet draw the combat away from the base.

The 500ly radius doesnt seem to be much of a bonus if it doesnt work.

This ability work, and is one of the main reason why the scav are so
powerful.
Normally the combat take place where the attacker are, in your case
5ly from the base, the combat range is 5ly, the wiki say up to 6ly,
but I never had a combat at 6ly yet in many occasion.

Well there not much use to anyone 5ly away from the base unless you
have the ships and time to retrieve them all before the next wave of
attack (which clearly he doesn't in this case - and anyone race can do
this themselves if there is no scavenger in a game). Therefore the
scavenger is better off loosing the battle i.e. all his ships so he
can use the parts straight away as they go to the base.
I would deduce it is only a real advantage for battles between other
races away from the scavengers, while you fight each other you make
the scavenger strong(er). But when you fight the scavenger in his
space then unlucky.

I have never played the Scav's so I am only commenting as a side
witness. Feel free to rip this theory to shreds, not like you would
need an invitation anyway.

They are not dropped to the base because there are Scav ships left after
combat. Wreckage pods land only at bases if there's no scav ship
surviving the combat. As the combat happen 5ly away from the base the
wreckage are at the place of the combat -> 5 ly away from the base.

If the Scav looses all his ships he is not as unlucky as other races
would be. Of cause the wreckages could land at the wrong base then, what
a pity with that pod speed Smile

Normally Do not fire at disabled isn't a bad option if going against the
Scavs even is some ships can repair and fight next turn again.
