So I've got this Valk. She's doing ok for a girl. Small problem with
a mindflayer or two or three or four (I really really appreciate
wizards with magic mapping and ident a lot more). But that's not what
this post is about.
She's got this really cool hammer, Mjollnir. While it seems to be the
ultimate killing weapon, it has one tiny little side effect. It
seems to blow up wands that the monsters have. In fact it just blew
up a /oDeath and I really need to figure out how to avoid it from
doing that.
She's found the Vibsq, however she is far far far away from actually
waking up the Wizard.
She also has a problem with fending off curses from the liches and
other curse casting nasties.
Below is about all she's got.

h - an uncursed very burnt -1 pair of levitation boots
o - a greased +0 pair of gauntlets of power (being worn)
s - a thoroughly burnt rotted +0 cloak called magicresistance?!?

v - a +1 silver dragon scale mail (being worn)
z - an uncursed thoroughly burnt +0 pair of boots called

I just finished having her remap the forgotten levels. She's on her
way back down. The /oWishing has been used once for the gauntlets of
power. I'm pretty sure I've got 3 ?ocharging in the bag (at least I
think before the 4th mindflayer incident I had 3 ?oCharging and I
still have a clump of 3 scrolls). A lot of unidentified wands (I
think most of them are digging) and scrolls. And 8 !oHolyWater. Two
unidentified helmets (I think they're opposite alignment and ESP).
Some blank scrolls. And that's it.
She did genocide disenchanters with the help of a throne (I personally
believe them to be worse the any 'h' or 'L' even after her recent 4th
mindflayer incident).
What I need to find (in order of most useful for ascension)...
?oGoldDetection (not identified or maybe forgotten b/c of the
mindflayer)- need at least 4 probably 8 given how many I normally use
on the Plane of Water.
?oEnchantArmor (has been identified and not forgotten yet) - a bunch
to get all armor at least +4 and rustproof.
?oEnchantWeapon (has been identified and not forgotten yet) - Mjollnir
is probably at -2 or -3 right now (how low can a disenchanter take
it?).
a useful helmet (I think one of the two unidentified will do)
?oIdent (not terribly necessary but should be useful)
=oSlowDigestion (like the ?oIdent, not terribly necessary but would be
useful)
So now the short term plan is to find a way to get these items.
i'm thinking using the /oWishing for a magic marker to write the ?oEA
and ?oEW. However witting the ?oGoldDetection (or even ?oIdentify) I
think will be a problem (even with a wizard I usually blow a whole
magic marker to write just one unknown scroll, I figure it's got to be
a lot worse for a non magic user).
There is one shopkeeper left. So if I find some mummy wrapping, I can
price ID the scrolls. I'm 90% sure right now she doesn't have an ID
scroll in the bag.
So after doing the enchant armor and weapons, I'm thinking of
aimlessly tooling around the dungeon and collecting scrolls until I
eventually get one that is an ID. Then write more as needed.
There is a black pudding somewhere I could farm, but it's not near an
alter, so I feel that would be less than useful. However I'm not
above pudding farming, so if this is the best course of action let me
know.
I frankly don't like plans that require me to wander around
aimlessly. Do y'all have any suggested alterations to the above
plans?

As a lawful you can dip a long sword in fountains to
get Excalibur, which does an extra 1d10 damage to
*any* monster, as opposed to Mjollnir's 1d24 damage
to non-shock resistant monsters. (Many monsters on
Astral etc. are shock resistant.) Plus it won't blow up
rings and wands with its lightning attack.

They respect Elbereth, so burn E on the upstairs and you
should be good to go. Or you could just genocide them.
Disenchanters also respect Elbereth, by the way.

At max luck your success chances become a lot
higher; 98% for a wizard and 33% for a non-wizard.

You might try wishing for a spellbook of identify
(if you can cast it with no metal armor, which you
might not be able to -- though if you can get a robe
it will help).

[S]Throwing Mjollnir - According to the Slash'em artifact spoiler, you need a strength of 25 to throw Mjollnir. What's the best way to get to 25 strength? All I can think of is gauntlets of power +5 and a ring of gain strength +2. Is there an easier way? -RdF
The corroded Magicbane? - I found Magicbane in a bones file during the tourney. It was enchanted to +2 (albeit cursed) along with some other good stuff - +2 fireproof gauntlets of dexterity and +2 fireproof speed boots (thanks Sisyphos!). I uncursed it and I have been using it...
Should I try wishing for Magicbane? - My lawful Valk just found her second blessed magic lamp in the Valley. I have the castle wand at (1:1). I have several smoky potions (extra healing) waiting to be blessed and quaffed, and I haven't even started quaffing from fountains. So, thinking..
