I have a delimma that probably no one can help me with, but thought I'd ask
anyway.

I installed 'Knights of Nine' and was searching out all the altars when the
'Knights.bsa' file came up 'corrupted'. Who knows why. My computer won't
allow me to delete the file so I can re-install, to rename the file, or
anything else...and I'm not about to sacrifice a horde of hours getting to
level 17 to reinstall the entire Oblivion program. The regular game still
plays ok, but it erased anything having to do with the 'Knights of Nine'
quest.

I'm screwed...right? Any suggestions?

Have you tried to delete in in DOS?

If you can't delete directly in DOS either (which is quite likely if you
can't delete it in Windows), you may have to use the attrib function at the
DOS prompt to unlock it. If you know how to navigate to the correct
directory in DOS, type in:

C:blahblah> attrib -r -a -s -h Knights.bsa
C:blahblah> del Knights.bsa

That should at least kill the offending file. You may well find that several
other files are corrupted as well and this is just the first to crash; you
might want to replace "Knights.bsa" in the above with "*.*", after checking
you don't want anything else in the directory.

Hi,

There exists a small prog named unlocker, this will surely resolve your
problem

Thanks for the advice here but nothing has worked. I've concluded my hard
disk is the problem.

So now I would like to re-install all of Oblivion onto another hard drive
while not destroying where I am in the game. I see all the save games and
edited 'ini' files are kept in a folder in my 'Mydocuments' desktop folder.

Does anyone know what else I need to save from the old install that a new
install would take up where I left off? I think I'll hide the old install
before I erase it [rename the old oblivion folder or something]. But this
might create conflicts in registry entries (?) on new installment. Any
advice appreciated on this.
