SEGA and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchangising Announce New
Aliens vs. Predator Game

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (February 11, 2009) – SEGA of America Inc.,
SEGA Europe Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising
(Fox L&M) today reveals exciting new details of their increasing
portfolio of upcoming games based on Twentieth Century Fox’s Aliens
universe.

SEGA will publish an all-new Aliens vs. Predator (working title) game
in early 2010. The game is currently in development with independent
developer Rebellion, creators of the original 1999 Aliens versus
Predator; a legendary title that went on to define an entire
generation of multiplayer gaming.

With the opportunity to publish what promises to be a landmark game,
SEGA has strategically updated the release of the other upcoming
Aliens titles currently in development within its portfolio.

“The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us,”
says CEO of SEGA West, Naoya Tsurumi, “It represents a fantastic
addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of
gaming’s most cherished iconic titles. By adjusting the release of our
other Aliens titles to accommodate it, SEGA will ensure that every
title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans.”

“SEGA continues to create masterful games based on our Aliens
franchise and this new addition is sure to continue their successful
track record,” said Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President, New Media
for Fox L&M.

SEGA will announce further details of the new Aliens vs. Predator very
soon.

I did a quick search on Google and saw this high on the results list:

http://kotaku.com/gaming/notag/rebellion-working-on-new-alien-vs-preda...-game-2

I would have been more thrilled if Monolith (FEAR and FEAR 2) were
behind this as their Alien vs. Predator game (the sequel to
Rebellion's) was notably better (which is not to say Rebellion's
didn't kick ass).

Great news, but I wish they would just concentrate on the Aliens and make as
faithful to the movies as possible. Predators don't scare me like Aliens do.
I played as marine and Alien all the way through but the Predator campaign I
didn't even bother to finish. Anyone with me?

> Anyone with me?

Afraid not I. I played through the Pred campaigns 2 or 3 times before
I looked at the others.

I'd sit for hours in a pitch black room, my pred sitting in a tree, or
on a cliff top; watching the marines below chatting away to each
other, my head (in the real world) turning to a slight angle (as per
the pred's in the films) trying to decide who's head I was taking
first... Are, memories of a happy childhood!

Playing as the alien did my head in, I just couldn't get the hang of
the view. not the thinking in 3d, running on the ceiling thing, that
was fine, just the vision modes, and the way the picture was slightly
distorted to show what was to the sides.

The Marine levels I recall had fantastic atmosphere, every minor back
ground crash would make you jump and panic would set in.

But no, I have to say I'm a die hard Pred fan... anyone for a game of
Frisby? My throw first though!

I actually liked the Predator campaigns in both games. Hell, I liked
all the campaigns. The best thing about the two games was that each
character played so damn differently. The marine was your typical FPS
type character but the other two had very unique and interesting
strategies. Hell, the Alien was different than any other character
I've played in any game.

The only thing I thought was inferior in the second game was the lighting.
Smashing the lights as the Alien was a key tactic in the first one for me.

Anybody else stoked for the Aliens games from Sega? - It's pretty old news that Sega acquired the Aliens license for at least two video games - one an RPG being developed by Obsidian Entertainment and the other an FPS being developed by Gearbox Software.
