Hello all,

I pre-ordered SC2 about two weeks ago and downloaded the game. However, I have not
received the Cd with the printed manual yet. Have they just forgotten me, or have they not
been sent out yet?

Haven't got mine so I don't think they're sent out.
Pretty much finished with the game although I found new life with the
scenarios.
I thought they were just different starting dates campaign dates (and some
are) but some are a different scale, turns, and map size.

I can't beat the AI in the 41-24 African scenario playing the British.
Grrrrr.

I can beat it playing axis so maybe it's unblanced:)

Duh figured out Allied victory in N Africa scnenario. I was fighting
delaying actions with occasional big stands. I killed lots of axis units but
they still won even when I owned El Alamein.

Read victory conditons where it said I had to get some towns back including
Tobruk.
Thought about what happened during that period. Duh..run back to El Alamein
(token forces in Tobruk and a couple towns). Slug it out and retake
everything.

The fight was tough at El Alamein but the ambushes (with the diagonal square
attacks) made it feasible enough to kill the German armor. Although I lost
several armor units the late reinforcments finally allowed me to go on the
attack and start taking stuff back in a hurry including Tobruk which was
empty as were most towns at this point.

I got as far as Bengazi but fell short one turn to take El Aghiela . I got
a major victory but that would have given me a decisive victory.

Playing at expert level it was brutal having little points each turn to
reinforce the losses.

Don't have mine yet. Don't really care much anymore. I may have to
check out play by email if HOIDD isn't any better. I'll give the
tactical side of SC2 a try to see if it's better. Sounds like you just
played a game of 'Rommel'.

Got mine Thursday, and HOI2DD, and HTTR, and the new golf bag! What
timing, wife thinks it was Christmas.

Yeah try the 41-42 africa scenario playing as Brits. It's pretty
challenging. Let me know how you made out.

Been playing the Franco 2.3 mod (more relaistic) of GGAW. Pretty good.

Took a break from HOI2DD and gave it a quick try last night. Realized
after 3 turns that I needed to pay more attention to it, restarted and
tried again. Fell back to Tobruk and managed to destroy 2 of his armor
and one army on turn 4. I did sacrifice one corp on turn 2 to delay
his air from getting to Tobruk to support his lead units since I have 2
AF and 1 CV waiting for him there. That's what did the trick on the
armor. Do you think this was enough to turn the tide or should I
continue on? I didn't check to see what units I'm up against, but so
far I was ahead (I think).

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Unlike the strategic game, apparently a
few armor losses aren't as important. This scenario reminds me of the
boardgame Tobruk or Rommell from long ago. A lot of back and forth
through the desert. GO RAT PATROL!

Continue on. That was my first mistake or a sense of false security. You
have to retake all the victory cities back all the way to Bengazi..actually
Alegheia <sp> to get a decisive win.

I killed lots of his units the first time delaying back.

Problem is he has more pts for reinf. I ran out towards the end and had too
little of an army to break out from El Alemein to track across that long
desert to gain the lost ground.

Now I was playing at expert level which I believe gives more initial points
for the Germans.

Plus the Germans get pretty good reinf including both Italian and German
armor.
As don't the allies. You don't see this reinforcement schedule anywhere in
the game. But they come Wink Faster than yours so he will kick you out of
Tobruk and push you back to El Alemain where time starts to become a factor
in retaking everthing..assuming you can even breakout. The only way I found
that possible was to fall back quick and save as many units as I could.

Yeah the scenarios are completely different and fooled me too. I wonder how
many scenarios will be created Wink

After losing twice with typical delaying actions and even heaving stands
before falling back to El Alamein I thought....think back to the board games
long ago. Yeah. back and forth:) I even killed all his armor thinking that
would do it. woops.

"We stopped them at El Alamein" I won. Wait I didn't. Oh, I have to retake
everything back too LOL!.
