Is there a way to avoid stars? I keep getting to about level five and the
police stop me from finishing. Usually, the suspects spawn close to where I
just bumped off their predecessors, so all the local bribes are used up, and
I don't have time to go further afield and then come back.
I want to avoid damage-proof cars if I can. SF and LV still aren't unlocked,
so I think the meatiest police vehicle I can get is the SWAT van - will that
help? >> Stay informed about: SA Vigilante |

I never had this problem, but I suppose avoiding explosions avoids
stars. So shoot up the cars and when they bail, just pop off the bad
guys with a rifle.

I've usually used a police bike. I don't think the van helps. >> Stay informed about: SA Vigilante |

There are other ways to clear wanted level.
If you've progressed far enough for barbers / tattoo shops to be open you
can get a new haircut/tattoo pretty quickly to clear all stars, - just don't
park the bike too close to the door marker or it might vanish.
A little more time consuming is a change of clothes (a new hat will do), -
also there's always a car parked at the pizza place in Idlewood which you
can quickly run through a Pay'n Spray.
Doing Vigilante in the countryside N off LS might be a good idea, - there's
quite a few bribes lying around once you locate all of them.
I'd recommend to keep wanted level down to 2*'s and try to keep collateral
damage down to a minimum.
Also apart from the Hunter and Rhino the HPV bike is by far the best vehicle
for the job (4 wheeled is far too vulnerable). >> Stay informed about: SA Vigilante |

Thanks, gents.
I had a couple of near misses (the bike started burning but never exploded).
I did the pizza car trick whenever I got to two stars, and (when available)
used the Glenn Park bribe, but I got there first try with your help.
So now I've got my starting save that I can use for future games:
In the beginning, Big Smoke & Ryder (although I only think of these as one
mission)
Plus "Tagging Up Turf", "Cleaning The Hood", "Drive-Thru" and "Nines and
AK's"
That got me to "Drive by" so I could do the boring stuff:
All unique jumps, tags, photos, oysters, horseshows,
burglary, firefighter, paramedic, pimping, taxi and (now) vigilante.
Plus the LS set of side missions & challenges - robina's courier; BMX
challenge, 8 track, gym
The only thing I can add to this save is to get the car and flying skill up
to maximum... >> Stay informed about: SA Vigilante |

Wha? No NRG challenge? I've got a mini-walkthrough of things you can do
before the majority of the missions if you want it.
Requires a lot of skill with the Dodo to get the girlfriends though.
Cheers,
Rob

I recommend the Hunter. Do it in LV where there are lots of
copter-accessible bribes and food stands.
For the first 10 or 12 levels, it's hard to avoid getting a lot of stars.
(Try using only the guns.) After that, blast away. It's much harder to
build them up.
For my guide to Hunter vigilante-ing search Google/Groups for my post
entitled "Billionaire CJ" (and be sure to expand the "quoted text", too).

Sorry - I didn't make it clear what I was trying to do. I want to get rid of
all the dross (tags, oysters, emergency service missions etc) and create an
early-save that I can use for subsequent runs.
I got vigilante now, thanks to Anssi and phreak, and I'm debating whether to
do the NRG challenge - As I need to visit that area a couple of dozen times
anyway (to deliver cars to the ship) I may just try the challenge each time. >> Stay informed about: SA Vigilante |

Oh. Sorry. I probably read your original message too fast. Early in the
game, huh? I don't know much about that. So, um, never mind.
