I'm looking for the schematic diagram to the force feedback steering
wheel motor control board used in the San Francisco Rush (the Rock/
Alcatraz) sit down game.

I need to repair one of these board and need the schematic.

Let me know if you find it. I've got 2 Rush's, no manual, and steering
issues with both of them. They seem to pulse or jerk as the car
drives. I don't know if that is a feature or an issue. If you find the
schematic and find your problem's solution, please post it here. I
hopefully will be getting to one of the Rush's today to work on it.

What issue are you having?

Pat,
The jerkiness in the steering may just be a worn belt on the force feedback system.
Take a look at it... I had the exact symptoms on mine and that was it.. 80% of the
teeth on the belt were gone! New belts are like $6 at betson.

[Ken] as for the schematic.. I have the manual, but I don't think it has the
schematic in it.. I'll check.

cheers/hope it helps
/Tim

If its really only jerky at 12 o'clock (center position) then try
replacing the steering pot.

FYI, schematics are not going to be available anywhere! Atari didn't
release them to anyone and I worked at a coin-op distribution when
that game came out. I can think of ONE person that might have them.
But I don't think he's allowed to share them.

My board is not powering the steering motor. All fuses test good and
no obvious shorted/open diodes or transistors.

The steering belt crosses to:

Browning # 140XL037

McMaster-Carr # 1679K126

Grainger # 1DHH9 (new part number) or 2L564 (old part number)

Happ Controls # 50-4041-00

I'll have to check that belt again. Last time I looked it was okay.
Seems to me Ken, or somebody else, found a replacement for that belt
elsewhere for a lot less. n(Not that $6 is going to kill me)

Ken.

Usually those drivers on the heat sink go bad. I've seen some cases
where those boards are totally dead even after changing those drivers
though.

I could see one going bad, but both at the same time? And no blown
fuses.

I've been looking around for those OPA541AP driver IC's, but nobody
has them.

I've seen it happen dozens of times. BTW, coin-op distribs should
carry these.

Keep in mind that these may not fix your board though. I've seen that
happen a few times too. At that point I've had to send the driver
board into Happ.
