I probably could have also called this post "Sometiems Thottbot Posts
are the Suxxorz".

So here we are, four of us, up at the Alteric place killing ogres and
getting myself and one of our priests the Tomes for the Preserving
Knowledge Quest. That pasrt is finished and we have no idea where to
get this Leather Book that is needed.

I Ctrl-Alt-Del and head to Thottbot and I read the following:

1) the book is in the place where all the elite ogres are
2) it is in a schoolhouse there
3) low level characters went in and got the book and did not even have
to fight anything - stealthed or sheeped. Others also claimed an easy
retrieval.
4) They went around the mountain on the right side
5) They went through a "hole in the wall" (turns out to be a space
between the mountain and a towered wall
6) They hugged the left side of the hill they were on
7) They walked to the school house, which was supposed to be next to a
steepled building and got the book

Well I can believe 1 through 6.

As for #7 now that has to be a crock of $#&%

After getting wiped there the other day by the elite ogres there was no
way I was going to walk to the schoolhouse, or even expect our part of
four to go in there and walk to the schoolhouse.

Seriously there were ogres everywhere and there was no freekin' way
that anyone was going to walk to the schoolhouse. Well maybe a rogue
with that stealth tactic.

At least the surveillance gives me an idea of what we have to do in
there.

Perhaps bring in a much higher level guildee to assist . Yeah that
might be the only answer.

Or a party of five all around level 40.

But this time we're leaving Kasmir Jenkins back at the fort.

Three cheers for the elite ogres at the Ruins of Alteric!

OH! OH! OH!

The trouble happened before. Party of five, no priest but two pallies.
we were level 30-35 with one of the pallies at level 38.

Problem is that level 38 pally is my friend, the tanking, agrroing,
pull the mob to the group, the one I am now going to refer to as Kasmir
Jenkins in future posts.

He mobbed us with a few of the elite ogres and we kept getting one or
two running in at us and never got a chance to regroup for health, mana
etc.

And I have a feeling he did not do the healing procedure the way a
paladin is supposed to do it, at least according to the htread I put up
yesterday or the day before. (Can I report him to the AMA?)

Last night we did not go in. Well what happened after I snuck in
through that area and was on the hill casing out the joint I did not
think it was a good idea to go in, so I skeddadled out aggroing one or
two of the ogres.

Of course two in the party saw my icon taking damage and ran to the
entrance but I was hightailing it to the snow and then those two took a
beating and got killed.

Sheesh, even trying to play it safe I doomed the two valient heroes who
thought they had to come to my rescue.

Anyways I think a gang of my guild went up afterwards and got the book.
Me I had to go to bed.

Perhaps there will be a future story.

Hmm, so what was my question anyways (now that I look at the first
post). Oh yeah, exactly which building is it in? I think I saw the
schoolhouse but I might be wrong.

Level 40? that part meant to go in as a party of 5 at elvel 40 when I
hit level 40.

Well we ended up in there because of Kasmir Jenkins
(Kaaaaassssmiiiiiiir Jeeeeeenkins!!)

Nah, I think it is yellow right now.

But the Ogre warmongers I have is orange.

ARGH! You mean that place where I kept falling into where the bottom of
the hill meets the building, when I was chasing the ogre that was
chasing our mage, the one where I meant to press the key combo for
"mocking blow" and pressed the one for that scream that makes the
beastie move at 50%?

That place off to the left side just past that building that is totally
gutted out?

Okay I was thinking that that was the one.

Thanks.

> Forget thottbot for this, "cartographe" is your friend.

I'll out him on my friends list. Smile

Thanks again,

five level 40 ???
should be a pieceof cake ...
I went there with level much smaller.
Juste take the main entrance, kill the ogres carefully and go on.
Get in the building, kill the big one, and take the book in the shelves !
If only two of you need the book, you can take it while in fight if you
don't have aggro, just in case of wipe ...

In my memory, the ogres are 37-38 for the biggest (34-36 at the beginning)
and the one in the school is a 40 elite.
You should kill him 100% with a five men group of level 40...

No I can swear it !
But please, a levelxx Elite should always be down by a team of 5 men same
level.
Especially when you say you had a priest.

What happened ?

Did you manage to get the five of you alive in the school or did you have
trouble before ?

Did this last week as a level 36 Mage. Had a little help from a warlock
who was already in the building and was looking for the same book,
together we killed the Elite in there without problems (Voidwalker tanked).

I did the way to the building and back solo and on my way back even
played around with some of the ogres. It's difficult if you try to kill
them all but you should be able to avoid them. Easy as a mage (you can
still cast frostnova and blink out of critical situations), as a warrior
it might be different.

arf !
You said you were level 40 ????
OK, you re just too small for the quest.
The problem is, if you're too small, you're completely useless except as a
healer, as you are going to miss all the time.
The quest is hard, yes, it is not meant for level 30-35 players, yes.
Come back later that's all !

Isn't the quest red for you by te way ?

OK, you take the main entrance and follow the road, which goes slightly to

As I said, 36 is not 30-35.
At 36 you'll touch the 40elite guy.

At 34 all you will have on yourscreen will be "miss" and "miss".

When I last did it, you could avoid going inside and get the book from
outside the schoolhouse by going round the back, between the house and the
mountain, and moving your cursor over the back wall till you get the cog.
Much the same as the 2 chests in the ships (can't remember which zone they
are in now).

It is a bit of an iffy way round the quest though - barging in and wiping
the guy makes getting the book more satisfying.

Ive always solod this quest.
I think with my priest I just feared the gy in the building and looted while
he was feared.
Forget what I did with my hunter, probably just killed him, tho it woul dbe
easy to loot while your pet keeps him busy.

You should never have to fight more than 1 mob at a time.
