Hi!
I played about a year on a PvP server and basically rerolled one
or two months ago (as alliance, *eek*) on a newly formed RPPvP
server (Scarshield Legion). The reason is that I've done everything
on my old server (except epic instances) and the only thing that
really was new to me was the alliance side, the RP aspect of the
game and a fresh server (= fresh economy, and noone to give me
gold).
However: There's certainly a difference between my PvP server and
my RPPvP server. Sure, you'll still find those "lolz" dudes there,
but the majority of people is relatively mature. Roleplaying
happens relatively regularly, sometimes only by speaking in some
weird ways, sometimes really in-depth. I'm a noob RPer and I don't
really seek RPing, but if I start RPing the majority of people
reacts and RPs too. Don't expect everyone there to be a roleplayer,
though. There are people on this server who don't even know what
RP is (they just picked the server with the coolest name, and
didn't look at the server type), and there are players / guilds
that are just not interested in RP and just picked an RP server
because it's quiet.
I can't say too much about the griefing yet, as I'm still in the
more alliance focused territories, but it *seems* to be better.
On the PvP server, when someone responded to a message of an
other faction player responses too, but nothing
like the aforementioned sentence.with something like "spare him, he saved my
butt" or anything like that, the responses were always like "omg
you fag ally lover!!!" or the likes (I spare you with the details).
On the RPPvP server they get different
I'd say RPPvP servers are ok for RPers, if they don't expect
hardcore RP. Make sure you download and install the mod "FlagRSP",
it helps identifying other RPers.
I'm not sure if WoW is the right game for you though. I love it,
but it's focused on advancing and PvE quests really. But I guess
if you find a good RP guild you could really like it, and it's
definitely worth trying out
