I have Road Rash for 3dO and it is one of the very few games I know of
that makes that machine worth owning. I believe there are 3 Road
Rash'es on the Genesis and am curious as to peoples thoughts as which
one or two is the best?

Also is the Sega CD version the same as the cart or be chance is it a
port of the 3dO game?

i always thought the 3DO version was the best, but it may just have
been that it was the most impressive for the time.

that's a great game.

You know I wish I had picked up a copy of the SS version as well. I do
have a copy of Need for Speed for SS that while it plays ok, doesn't do
that much for me. Interesting to see the difference between that first
one and the latter ones though. Seems like it was trying to be simish
for the most part but still a bit arcadey. Meh.

I find the cut scenes, as most of the low budget video affairs in those
early fmv to be pretty funny personally just for the cheese factor. I
love the soundtrack, really good stuff, even had some really bad
looking (grainy) videos for some of it!

I agree, and I keep meaning to pick up the Saturn port of the 3DO game
sometime just to see what it was like. The first Genesis game is a
single player race with hand drawn characters and software scaling for
the sprites (severly limited in framerate). The second Genesis game is
more of the same, but with a crucial (for me) addition, two player split
screen. The third game is an ugly digitized mess of "live actors" with
more weapons and bikes to buy over the second game, but severely lacking
in art quality.

The Sega CD game is the one to get if you like the story and cutscene
dialog of the 3DO game (I'm pretty sure it's the exact same one), and
the 1st Genesis game's graphics. EA opted to not use the hardware
scaling and rotation capabilities which made effects in Batman Returns
and the Core 3D Sega CD games so famous, and instead simply ported the
Genesis cart and added music and cutscenes. Consider it a "directors
cut" DVD version of the VHS original.

Besides the two EA games mentioned before (Road Rash and Need for
Speed), it seems that EA ported over a few 3dO titles to either PSX/SS.
I can think of Gex off the top of my head. What are some the other EA
(or 3dO ports in general) ported over to the other 32-bit machines?

Let's see here...well, before I list anything, some I *know* made it,
some I *think* made it so this list could be off a bit, but here goes:

Gex
Alone in the Dark 2
BattleSport
Braindead 13
Casper
Cyberia
The Horde
Madden
Need for Speed
PO'ed
Return Fire
Road Rash
Shockwave
Slam n Jam
Space Hulk
Starblade
Total Eclipse
V-Goal

Yeah, before they became Madden's whore, they were a pretty good
company. Put out a lot good stuff, on the Genesis especially.

Well, actually I just went to GameFAQs and went through the entire 3DO
list. Smile
