Remember the board game Risk? Try it VGA Planets style!

New Game: Risk VGA-Planets style (Game 30)
www.thestarbase.net/games/game30.php
Host: PHost 4.0 with Tim Shiplist
Ribbons Awarded: PHost, Risk

Concept: Game is based on the Risk Board game and played using an
earth-like world map with no wrap and a single bi-directional wormhole
between Russia and Alaska. Players must maintain control of their
starting planets while attempting to take over others. Each player
starts with two Home Worlds. All Home Worlds are known by all players,
players pick their starting Home Worlds in a first-come-first-pick
order.

General Map Setup:
478 planets with Extra Rich Universe and lots of natives. 22 bonus-
scoring planets equipped with starbases and low mineral resources.

Player setup:
All players have identical starting resources: 2 Starbases, 2 planets
each with: 30,000 Colonists, 20,000MC and 1000 Supplies.
Starting planets have:
N: 2000 / 2000 / 20 (Surface/core/density)
T: 300/600/20
D: 350/500/15
M: 150/400/95

Race and Planet selection:
Upon registering for the game each Warrior will request up to 3 races
and 3 initial bonus planet they wish to start from. Each warrior will
then be awarded a race and a "Round 1" bonus planet pick based upon
the timestamp of the received request. Starting positions will be
determined by first-requested-first-given basis. If the Warrior's
first request is taken their second request will then be considered
(for more details see the "Join Game" screen). Once all the races are
taken and the first round of bonus planets is determined the results
will be published to all players and a second round of requests will
commence for each player's second bonus planet. The results of the
second round will be published and the game will commence. Note the
first person to join will have the advantage of picking the race but
the disadvantage of not knowing who is going to take what bonus
planets around them.

Scoring and Winning Criteria:
Risk is all about owning territory. Risk VGAP style reflects this and
adds planet development to the mix. Scoring is based strictly on the
following:
Starting Planets (22): 250 points each
All other planets (478): 25 points each
Starbase Tech levels: sum of all tech levels divided by 2
Factories and Mines: sum of all F&M divided by 10
There are no points for offensive or defensive developments. If
another player captures a starting planet the capturing player will
gain the 250 point bonus for that planet. Bonus planets are as
follows:
192, 48, 423, 342, 165, 415, 278, 303, 137, 334, 2, 228, 492, 11, 253,
405, 401, 427, 490, 277, 479, 161
Winning player will have an AScore > 60%

How to sign up:
Go to www.thestarbase.net/games/game30.php and click on Join button
then follow the instructions. The map is available for viewing and I
will do my best to keep the race selections current.
