Hi All: Well...I received ROL yesterday from gogamer for $34.90!
Anyway....I'm really enjoying the game. It has the RON UI, but it plays
much different. It's a slower paced game in terms of battles. Sometimes
with RON I just couldn't get a good handle on the combat, simply too
much going on. There's 3 fractions & the seem very balanced to me.
I have always been a HUGE fan of the Kohan series & many of you we'll
think it's very similar. It's not a game that will "hit" you right away
@ least for me, but after playing for a day or so you'll really start
to appreciate it!
I had concerns about framerates with the 2nd demo on my eVGA 6800nu & I
can tell you it plays much smoother then the demo. Playing 4x AA/AF @
1280x1024 w/ medium details & she's fine. Can't wait to play MP once i
really get up to speed. Anyway...Just thought I throw my 2 cents in.
You should check out ROL....I didn't even know it was coming until I
noticed the demo @ Gamespot. It's a real sleeper!

I've been playing it for a few days with some MP last night..like it.
I"m not a huge RTS guy but I'm going to get into this one.
My computer is pretty weak but the game runs fine for me.
Sempron 2.8
1 gig ram
ATI 9550
Played 4 player multi and saw no slowdown or stuttering...of course,
lowest of low details, which doesnt' bother me whatsoever. |

Bimbo: It's truly a Masterpiece of a game! It's well made & it shows!
Pure quailty, no question. I'm stumped that there isn't more people
talking about it here. Over @ the Rise of Legends forums, threads are
pretty brisk. I went ahead today & buy a eVGA 7800GS video card @ that
cost me almost $300.00! But....I needed to upgrade my older 6800NU.
Yeah...your 9550 is a little long in the tooth, but if you happy
playing with the lower settings more power (&money) to you!
I'll jump on the MP bandwagon once I finish the campaign. Should be

Ya...I'm getting worried about everyone finishing the campaign and then
coming to thrash me online...I have just played a few skirmishes and a
few mp games. I'm going to really work on the Coutl this weekend,
trying all sorts of different strats against the A.I. till I have a
good handle on them for MP. I've never been into MP RTS's except AOE2
with a buddy....so I know I need to be pretty familiar with whatever
factions I'm playing with.
Ya, my vid card is pretty sick. I can't play Oblivion or GR3 very well
and was going to upgrade but I'm heading to New Zealand for a trip and
just cannot spend the money on this crazy hobbie right now....but, at

No eras @ all! ROL it's has a very similar UI to RON. It's a fantasy
based game so there is no reason for eras. Pick up a copy, you'll enjoy
it! Only downside is you need a very heavy duty video card. My 6800NU

Do you have to go through different eras like with Rise of Nations

Bimbo: I'm almost finished with the Alin campaign. Anyway...Just a
thought, I live on the East Coast of the US (Boston, MA.) & let me know
if you're interested in a MP game down the road. I'm a mello sort &
take MP with a grain of salt (i.e. just want to have fun) So...If

Hey,
Sure, I'm up for some MP. I have tried a few games but lost both...I'm
pretty non-hardcore myself but of course wouldn't mind winning once in
awhile! I frequent the Quarter Till Three forums and there's a
decent group of people there who play online also. I've only played
with the Cuotl in skirmish games but tonight and tomorrow I'm going to
work on the two other factions...I'd be up for some games later in the
week or on the weekend anytime. Send me an email to this bimbo yahoo
address when you can play (West Coast here), maybe easier on the

Bimbo: That sounds great! I'm a huge Red Sox's fan & I'm leaving
tomorrow (Wednesday) for a road trip to Baltimore & Philadelphia (2
games @ each city) Anyway...I need to get out of New England! We have
received over 15" inches of rain & my basement got hit fairly bad
(pumps running now)
I'm almost finished with the 2nd part of the campaign. Haven't even

It would be great to be on the East Coast to go to a bunch of those
classic stadiums like Fenway or Yankee stadium. I'm a huge Mariner
fan and have a friend who keeps saying we should take a road trip to
see some of the parks someday...of course, he just had a kid so we are
screwed for a bit....another friend brought up the same subject but he
had a 2nd child...what the hell! They should have taken a cue from
