Returning Customer, I have account which was frozen ( i took a break from
the game ), I have now resubscribed, and account is active again.
I have lost both my origional and Burning Crusade disks.
I have downloaded the Burning Crusade Full Install (2.33GB) from your
website, and have tried to install, but website says I need to install World
of Warcraft first.
Does this mean I have to Download the 3GB Download of the origional game as
well, before i can install the Burning Crusade?
Question.
Do I have to pay for the game again?
Do I have to pay for the Expansion again?
I have played for around 2 years before I quit and uninstalled, but when I
downloaded, I could see no way of installing the game without buying it
again.
Could you please advise me on the best way to get round this problem, as I
do not want to purchase both games again.
I do have the CD Key for Expansion written down, but not the origional game.
Any other help for re installing etc would be helpful.
Why did I delete the darn game...?
Almost 6GB downloading??? not good.
There must be a better way. >> Stay informed about: Returning player needs help |

I had to do that when reinstalling on my father's system at his house
due to a dodgy DVD.
At about an hour per download it wasn't completely intolerable.
People today are spoiled.. Back in 1988 it took an hour to download 600K
at 1200bps! >> Stay informed about: Returning player needs help |

Dunno where u are based but in UK you can buy original WoW demo for 99p. Ive
benn told that the DVD supplied contains the whole game. As you have an
account, that should allow you to install all the game once you have logged
in.

In high school I used to call BBSes on a 115 baud teletype utilizing
thermal paper. It was originally used to control the school's HVAC
system remotely.

I am at a loss here.
I can't understand the loss of the original game discs. I know most
computer games now requires the disc to be in the drive just to play
it. Blizzard games seem to be the exception to this rule. But still,
once my games are installed or I am done playing them, they go back
into the original packaging and on a shelf above my computer. There
they sit until I either need them again, or decide I don't want them
anymore and dispose of them on ebay.
I simply can't imagine going to retrieve a game and not finding the
discs for it. >> Stay informed about: Returning player needs help |

But it doesn't happen to me all the time. When I am done with a disc
it goes back where it belongs. Anytime I need something I know where
to find it.
I know the discs themselves aren't required to run WoW once it is
installed like most other PC games do. But its still a $40 purchase
and I can't imagine taking the discs out of the computer and
scattering them off to who knows where. Put them back in the box and
put the box on a shelf somewhere, or buy a CD organizer and keep all
your discs in it so they are never lost. Just take a few seconds and
put things away when you are done with them. >> Stay informed about: Returning player needs help |

I took an IBM Selectric typewriter and fitted it with solenoids to act

I never had one of those. I remember sticking my nose up at the
TRASH-80. At the time I had a Data General Eclipse computer at home
(ran on 3-phase 240 volt and filled my laundry room -- the washer /
dryer were sent to the garage). Cost me $30,000 at a time when my
salary at Tektronix was $15K per year!
3 years later I made my first $ million on software I developed for it.
2 years after that I was bankrupt because I didn't know the first thing
about business... (I got an MBA 4 years later to rectify that problem)

Where I work, we still use these as printers (and actual access
terminals in one case):

I tried programming when I was younger.. Found I didn't have the mindset
to sit in front of a screen for 60-80 hours/wk. >> Stay informed about: Returning player needs help |

WoW fixed that problem, I guess.

Not yet, but I used to live at home with 2 younger brothers who
constantly wanted to get at my stuff. When I moved out I still had
all my music and game CD's because I made sure to keep track of them,
and learned to recognize when things were moved so I knew when to
start looking. The earlier you start looking, the easier it is to
find.
We were also taught that certain things don't get touched, and that
there were consequences for touching them. As such, those things
didn't get touched very often. >> Stay informed about: Returning player needs help |

Well, this probably happens only when there's only one person in the house
playing computer games. When there are multiple users, it's very easy to
have disks moved from one location to another, and not returned to their
"proper place". (This happened tons of times when my kids were still at
home.)
Even now, I have several different places where I store disks: shelves in
the spare bedroom, two cabinets near my new desktop, a couple of towers near
my old desktop, some shelves and drawers in the other spare bedroom, and
several smaller cd racks strategically placed here and there. The disks are
probably all locatable, but they're not necessarily grouped together, and
one of the kids may have said, "Mom, do you mind if I take [game] back with
me?"

Yeah, well, some of us are pretty random in our tidiness. And I would need
an extremely sizeable CD organizer to hold all of the disks for all of the
games. Some things are *much* easier said than done. Note: here in our
office building I have stored multitudinous game boxes dating back years.
If I wanted to find the disks for a particular older game, it would still
take me considerable time, even though the boxes of boxes have list labels
on the outside, identifying the games inside.
