Hey All
I was on and off here last year, but in January, me and the other half
decided we needed a break from DAoC...
We joined the Beta for WISH, but did not enjoy it at all, so moved on.
We joined SWG - most of our DAoC Guild were on there, but it wasn't really
that interesting for us.
We started playing Neverwinter Nights online (not really an MMORPG, but
close!) but got bored with it pretty quickly.
We joined Shadowbane, but it was a similar grind to DAoC (but quicker),
though from level 20 upwards, there was the constant looking for high-level
opponents that seemed to enjoy killing people. That is wearing very thin
now...
After much deliberation (OK, I said "I miss DAOC" and she said "Me too!") we
are looking at coming back in the next week or two. Being that we were
completely addicted before, all our stuff is still intact (at least, I
assume so), but this is mostly directed to the Euro-Server players:
How different is it with ToA? I know a lot of people don't like it, but
server numbers don't seem much different, so it seems to have attracted new
people to replace the old... I know now that Artefacts and Master Levels
mean it's kinda neccesary - but IS it? Do you REALLY need it, or will
people that have it wipe the floor with us?
We left during Patch 1.62, amid lots of Server Crashes - I know the patches
have moved on, has much changed? Also, is Excal fixed, or do huge numbers
of Albs or Mids going for Relics still crash it?
Relics - are there still constant raids trying to get them back, or did the
crashes cause everyone to lose interest?
Also - I think the guild we were in - The Dragon Fighters - I believe it has
folded which is a shame... Most of them left for SWG or Horizons, but I
don't know if any of them came back - any on here by any chance?
Is RvR still Zerg v Zerg - is Frontiers active on Europe yet. If not, but
yes in the US, has it improved things?
Any info you can give would be great!
Cheers!

The game is certainly better than it was a couple of months ago on the Euro
Servers.
Folk have had their 'honeymoon' period with ToA and are coming back to RvR.
I'd suggest looking at Freddy's House (the new Barry's World) for a more
varied view. This NG doesn't seem too busy any more.
http://forums.freddyshouse.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17
Alot of the old characters did leave in disgust of ToA (a blatant attempt to
clone EQ) but things are still fairly fun and getting better.
Relic raids happen but not often (or usually by albs in the middle of the
night so they get no opponents)
Game seems slightly more stable but still laggy in SI and ToA. >> Stay informed about: Returning to (Euro) DAoC |

We've only been playing a few weeks, but we chose to use the american
servers, and its been pretty fun. Lancelot has lots of Abs and /level 30 for
Mids & Hibs.

Huge numbers will still crash the zone (software limitation GOA can't do
much about), but not necessarily the entire server. I remember one
recent server crash because of a frontier raid, and the server was down
for 20 minutes or so. There have also been a couple of zonecrashes the
last few weeks, where +/- 400 players were in a single frontier on a
keepraid.
Excalibur had some extra problems with crashes some time ago, but those
are long fixed. Uptime is about 99%, and most of the 1% is scheduled
downtime.

There's an occasional RR on Excalibur, but none succesful for a while.

I don't know really..

Seems sort of inactive from the LWRP, but you might want to ask an alb
player.

It's not Live yet in the USA, only on Pendragon in beta form.
It looks nice, but I don't have a US account so it's hard for me to
comment.

Nice one chaps - thanks for the info...
I use Freddys House more often than not, but find sifting through "Nerf XXX"
"Gratz XXX" or "FAO XXX" boring! I've spent a few hours plodding around
there, but haven't found out anything of much use.
Gunnr - thanks for the info about TOA: I figured everyone would either love
or hate it, and I know that we'll have to start right from scratch, but
hey - not a problem for me Beats starting a completely different game
from scratch and not knowing anything about the entire system - at least
I'll just be a n00b for the regions/mobs, as opposed to EVERYTHING!
Sounds like things on the servers are pretty much as they were- zerg v.
zerg, occasional crash, and someone doing an alarm clock RR.
Thorarin - hoped you were still around thanks for your info... It would
appear that the Dragon Fighters are either not around as they were, or not
RvRing much at all... Hopefully they will still be on in force when we
return, otherwise *shrug*
See ya in the Frontiers - probably as the necro dead again from lack of
decent gear!!
