Hi, Im playing return to zork and have a quick question. When I talk to
people the boxes on the right or left come up ie interested, friendly,
bored, um and the rest - when they speak it seem like its all at once
because if I hit one of these buttons for the most it makes no change - are
they supposto speak then wait for you to hit a button and then respond to
that button and speak some more from that button or is it they speak and you
have to hit buttons while they speak as I find the later to fast and
unconventional. Thanks Shaun B.

Hi,

I have RtZ sitting on my shelf, but it's in the "unplayed" section, so
I'm afraid I can't help. I'm just answering anyway in case someone who
do know the answer missed your post.

Also, have you solved the technical problems you had with the game, and
if so how? That could be useful information when I get round to playing
it.

Rikard

It's been a long time, but let me see if I can remember it correctly.
While the person is talking, you can choose a mood. That mood will affect
how the person treats you throughout the conversation segment, unless you
change moods, which takes effect...sometime soon. The intent is that your
mood can be changed at will, and the conversation dynamically follows it.
In practice, it worked, but was a bit clunky.

I'd save the game right before a conversation, and then go through it
several times, playing with the mood indicators. It takes a bit of practice
to get used to it.

I own several versions of RTZ. To those who haven't played it I encourage them to give it a try with hints; as this game is impassable without hints the least.

When you talk to the person you have to try the emotions while he/she talks. Clicking once should work. While the person is talking about the emotion you clicked on, you can then go ahead and click on another to see if the person will keep talking about the subject.

Now I know why adventure games are not very popular - I picked up Syberia at Walmart for ten bucks. Where's the game in this thing? The hardest part about it is finding all the hotspots to click your mouse. Last adventure game I buy, that's for sure.
