Note, it takes approximately 9 days to get from 0 rest to 100% rested.

Rest is per character, no limit other than the fact you can only have ten
characters per realm. I read somewhere that it accumulates approximately one
bubble per hour when you're in an inn or capital city, to a maximum of 150%
of the experience required to the next level. IE if you're level 59 and it
takes 200,000 exp to go from 59->60, no matter where you currently are on
the bar you can store up to 300,000 exp of rested bonus.
You can, as mentioned above, have up to ten characters per realm, but with
there being hundreds of realms, I don't think you could possibly play the
max number of characters you could create, there'd simply be too many. >> Stay informed about: Rest accumulation and number of characters |

in an inn 1 bubble per 8 hours up to 30 bubbles.
1/4th that rate in the field.

Yeah. One bubble per hour is actually too fast, in hindsight considering
there's only 20 bubbles per level. In my observations, it's somewhere
between 3-4 bubbles I earn over an 8 hour period (asleep at night) >> Stay informed about: Rest accumulation and number of characters |

I am fortunate enough to have two accounts and time to play (am retired).
Accordingly, I have 13 characters (all horde) on one server (Gnomer). At the
moment, I'm trying to level these characters without running out of rest XP.
My strategy, then, is to play a character until just before its rest XP is
exhausted then switch to another character. By the time I get back to the
first character, its rest XP is back to 150%. I'm at 3 70s and 10 more to
go...
The only problem, and its a big one, is the boredom of the grind... Frankly,
I'll probably not make it. The grind is tedious now and its too much fun
playing my 70s.
Cheers,

Actually I believe it is 10 days. You earn 10% per 24 hours resting in
an inn.
I have toons on 3 servers, and after level 20 never play beyond rested
level. If you just grind, you get 1.5 levels at full rest. With quest
turn-ins, it works to just a tad over 2 levels.
I usually get to the next even level, skill up, then fly to an inn near
where I plan on playing next. I then log him off for 10 days.
I use an addon called "AllPlayed" that shows me all my toons on all my
servers, along with their level, amount of gold, and % rested. With
that, I know which toon to switch to next to keep all the toons at
maximum playtime (play when they are between 90% and 100% rested).
My oldest server has 8 toons between 38 and 58. Those take long enough
to level that they tend to sit at 100% for long periods before I get the
grit to go play them again. I seem to enjoy the pre-40 levels more than
the post-40.

So rest accumulation is at the same speed, regardless of whether I have
1, 3 or 10 characters on the server?
For some reason I just got the idea, a few days ago, that if you have 2
characters on the same server, they accumulate rest at half speed, and
at 1/3 speed if you have 3 characters, and so forth...

Oh no! I have nine characters on the one server and trying to keep up
with all that rest state is a real pain. ; )

I have never been able to catch up the rested bonus marker after
going to Outland. When I dinged 69 I had 1+ level of rested bonus.
This even though I have played my main >90% of the time, several
hours a day. Being able to stealth to the quest objectives (I'm
a rogue) with minimum fighting cuts down the XP from killing mobs,
but with the huge number of quests this isn't a problem and keeps
me motivated to do all (ok, most) available quests. Still 1/3 XP
bar to lvl 70 and a full quest log >> Stay informed about: Rest accumulation and number of characters |
