I've played out Call of Duty 1 & 2. 3 isn't available on the PC and my
PC isn't powerful enough for 4.

Are there any other games which are similar? Single-player shooter but
fighting alongside bots.

Running a NVidia 7600GS with 256Mb.

Red Orchestra via Steam is rather good, but my highest recommendation would
be to pick up the "Battlefield 1942 Complete Collection".

"Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30": good WWII FPS where you fight alongside
the men of your squad while using simple commands to give orders to them in
battle. It is set in Normandy.

It was published in 2005, so the specs should be arount the ones for CoD2.

Looks good.

What about "Medal of Honour"? The review on gamespot.com seems very
positive.

I've just realised (since starting this thread) that I'm confusing CoD
United Offensive with CoD 2.

If this is the case, I've still got CoD 2 to look forward to - Woo Hoo.

Is United Offensive simply an expansion of CoD 1?

Red Orchestra is multiplayer only. SP is only for training with a stupid
AI. It runs well with older PCs.

I liked the games published so far (but I didn't played the newest,
"Airborne"). However, it is slightly less frantic than CoD (a game that
every time left me exausted), and you feel less part of a group of people
fightning together. "MoH: Pacific Assault" is the one that I remember most
fondly.

"Band of Brothers" is less frantic, too, but you are definetly part of a
squad. If it is this aspect of the game that you are interested in, then go
for BoB. If it is the adrenaline, then MoH is surely a good choice.

Yes, it is.

MoH series cannot hold a candle to CoD series, in every possible
aspect, every single MoH is either slightly inferior or vastly
inferior to comparable game from the CoD series. Although this
autumn's MOHA and COD4 are not directly comparable for some (MOHA
being WW2 while COD4 is modern) - they are directly comparable in my
opinion, and never before COD series was this much superior to MOHA.

Just check their respective forums - MOHA is dead already, while
COD4 community is growing by the minute (it's already humunguously big
for a PC game).

I'm getting the message that you think MoH is rubbish Wink

I'll remove it from my list.

MP is rubbish, SP is not but it depends on what you look for,
and whether you want just one game or more. Latest MoH, usually known
as MOHA (MOH Airborne) is decent, somewhat repetitive and boring
single player WW2 flavored FPS. It looks great, perhaps the best
looking game on Unreal 3 engine to date. Multiplayer is dead.

CoD4 has phenomenally designed single player campaign, and
equally brilliant multiplayer mode, that is also immenselly popular.
It also looks great.

If you play exclusively single player games/modes, I assume you
go thru games quickly and in that case, after playing vastly better
games like COD4 and COD2 you *might* have some fun playing MOHA as
well.
