C&C Red Alert under WinXP

Hi all

I dug out this nearly 10 year old C&C CD, it is the Win 95 version in
German ("Teil 2: Alarmstufe Rot").

When I try to install it under WinXP prof., the Setup-Screen comes up
("... preparing the InstallShield Wizard ... Please Wait."), counts to
100%, and then a small window pops up with a "Setup initialization error."

And that's it.

Now, I've googled around and found in this group a couple of posts, esp.

Unfortunately, try as I might, it doesn't help at all. I can run the
setup.exe from a shortcut set to Win95 compatibility mode, but I don't
get a toe further.

I have admin rights, and I don't intend on playing over a LAN or
Internet if that matters. Any help appreciated.
