I was wondering if there are any racing games out there that have
active railroad crossings out there that pose an actual in game
hazard? The closest Ive seen was
Burnout Revenge- I remenber seing an active train running along side
a street that you could run in to. Ditto for the Kindiack Park level
of NFS:HS
Need for speed Underground- A train crosses the street in one of the
drag races but it finishes before any of the cars reach it. It was in
the demo but was removed and replaced with a static train in the
retail version!
Right now, those are the only racing games that have something like
this I can think of. Any others? >> Stay informed about: Railroad crossings in racing games? |

No trains, but cross traffic is possible. rFactor's Neurburg Village Travel
crosses itself. The effect, I think, is similar but even more so. >> Stay informed about: Railroad crossings in racing games? |

Yes there is a track that has a railroad crossing and while the chances are 2% you will
have your race car there when the train speeds through makes the track very playable !
cool stuff.
the caveats and biscuits:
I don't remember which Need for speed. I am guessing 4. I am pulling up my old NFS games
and looking.
That was great fun.
NFS 3 and NFS 4:

IIRC Ignition has a rail crossing (an obscure answer for an equally obscure
thread!).

Rail tracks at the blind fast left hander leading to the overpass at
Sachsenring in GPL. Perfect illustration why trying to use unmarked
railroad crossing in F1 car is not a good idea >> Stay informed about: Railroad crossings in racing games? |

I would like to see boat ramps so that I could occasionally wash my car.

Actually, I think it would be interesting if a racing game features
hazards such as tornadoes, high speed winds, floods, and lightning
that can fry the electrical system of your car. Perhaps even an
earthquake or two.

If somebody ever does a version of the San Jose Grand Prix, there's a
spot where the Champ Cars bounce over the light-rail lines downtown.
Or did they change that this year? I was there last year watching
right at that spot, and it was quite amazing how much the cars bounced
going over that. >> Stay informed about: Railroad crossings in racing games? |

Oops, I guess that was 2005, actually. So I"m two years out of the
loop. >> Stay informed about: Railroad crossings in racing games? |

I think they fixed and smoothed out the crossing because of this very
issue. The cars were getting damaged, not to mention jarring the snot
out of the drivers. There was a video on Youtube I recall that had
"before and after" videos of that crossing. >> Stay informed about: Railroad crossings in racing games? |
