Hi,
I love these types of racing games. I am 36, and do not have hours upon
hours to invest in playing. I find many racing games difficult to steer.
Diddy Kong Racing and F-Zero X are 2 of my favorite racing games. I am
looking for suggestions on other racing games that are unusual and easy to
steer.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Joe,

How about Star Wars, Episode I Pod Racer. I am not a big fan of racing
games, but I do like Diddy Kong and this one. I like the scenes, and ease
of handling. Just my humble opinion Smile

Excitebike 64 is relatively unusual and fairly easy to steer; it's
probably my favourite N64 racer after F-Zero X. Wave Race 64 is
another obvious choice, though you'll probably tire of it quickly.
1080 may also be worth a look, but I'm not sure it's really the sort
of thing you're after.

There's also San Francisco Rush 2049 which was pretty reasonable on
the Dreamcast, but I don't know how well it plays on the N64. And to
be fair, it's not easy to steer, sometimes it's easier to crash into
walls to do the steering... or maybe that's just me. Smile And there's
Beetle Adventure Racing, which I really didn't like personally but
most other people seem to.

I've got San Francisco Rush 2049. It's worth a look and is competent, but I
just lost interest in it after a few weeks. Nothing really drags you back to
play it like Diddy Kong Racing or F Zero X.

Good call with 1080o - I always forget about this game when people talk
about racers, but it is a superb game, if a bit short.

Yeah, true enough. The way the Extreme circuit makes you play the
levels in every possible combination of backwards and mirrored with
variable fog is pretty cheap, too. Smile

Hmm... isn't there some catch with the Presidio track on the N64? Like
you need the memory expansion to see it, or something? It would be a
shame to miss out on that, it's probably my favourite track apart from
Mission.

Also, being a third-party game on the N64 you'd need a memory card,
something worth pointing out if the original poster doesn't have one.
Lacking a memory card would also severely affect BAR, only two tracks
are unlocked initially.

Well, I didn't like it too much really, but it's good for a
snowboarding game. Smile

There's always Mario Kart 64 - particularly good with other players,
2 or more.
Still good in 1 player mode.
