rec.games.roguelike.nethack - 999 subscribers - (google groups) I found this amusing, at least. I'd say I was number 1000 but it doesn't seem to update instantly so I might have been beaten to it.

Wishing suggestions for an extinctionist wizard - Chaotic human wizard, gone as deep as the vally of death and currently camping on an altar on DL:21. This is the first character that im with, and im finding myself wondering what I want to wish for. RNG has blessed me with a 0.3..

YASD Ring of what?? - Being the newbie that I am, I decided to equip both the rigs I started with as a wizard. They gotta be good, right? Wrong! First move after checking my I Put on my Ring of Conflict. Next turn I move to pick up the gold next to me, but I don't..

You hear a loud click! - My useless Samurai, is wandering around Delphi when I get the message "You hear a loud I googled for this message but didn't find anything specific. What the heck does this mean??

[S] barbarian spellcaster - Fip the Level 29 got In:21 and Wi:23, but still he's casting Magic Missile at 100% failure (no metal armor, etc.). Why do get a couple classes of if they can't use it? Am I ..

Started a new game, dwarven Valkyrie.

Found a curved wand on the upstairs. Didn't bother to try to ID it.

Went out into the corridor, got ambushed by a gold golem. Dead in one hit.

DYWYPI? Siure, why not.

f - a blessed wand of wishing (0:3)

Don't worry, even if you IDed it, that character wouldn't last long.
When RNG starts giving away nice things, you know something bad's about
to happen. My recent character found Shiled of Reflection on 1st level
of Mines, got Grayswandir from first (!) sacrifice at coaligned altar in
Minetown, and died on a way back from Mine's End to, guess what?
Arch-lich (I just love those polytraps).

That's what RNG does...
