I'm running both OS on two seperate drive and I have the option of
picking which one I want to boot to.
Runs fine, but if I boot into XP (the default) for more than a week, I
can no longer boot into Vista, unless I use Safe Mode. Vista just
keeps going in a circle. Boot, shut down, boot, shut down.
I have to set Vista as the default boot, use the install CD to repair
the installation, then it's fine for another week, then it starts all
over again.
All legit purchases.
Any ideas?

Wow, that is very strange. I started to ask if you had tried repairing Vista
with the dvd, but I see you have tried that.
I dual boot as well, have not seen this type of behavior. Are you using the
built in boot manager in Vista? You might try installing Easy BCD, the
latest version I believe is 1.7.2, and see if it reports anything strange
about your boot files.
Also, has it always done this since setting up the dual boot with Vista? Or
did it just started doing it recently? It almost sounds like some hardware
or driver might be conflicting with it upon startup.

Sounds like a troubleshoot I would like to encounter. My only suggestion,
try booting by choosing which drive to boot rather than which OS to boot.
Say for instance XP is on Drive 1 and vista is on Drive 2. Try booting from
Drive 2 for Vista. This works if your bios gives you the option of which
hard drive to boot from during startup. If the OS continues to act up, take
the XP drive out and see if Vista still acts up. But the suggestion about
easy-bcd was my next idea but I see someone beat me to it. Good Luck

I am currently using Easy BCD for the boot up.
I can't say if it's done this since day one since I installed Vista
just to do some comparisons in FS, so it sits for a while unused.
And yes, it sat for about a monthe, then wouldn't boot up. Used the
disc to repair, and everything was fine during that session. Shut down
Vista, and next day (and a few after) booted into XP (you know how us
old dogs are). But I was starting to like Vista and had it configured
the way I liked, and next time I booted into it, Same thing!
Yea, drivers! There's a fun subject.
Jusy wondered if I am alone in this.

Yea, thought of that, but it isn't offered. I run three 500 gig
drives. One has XP, the second Vista, and the third is for backup.
Now here's the dilio. I figured NP, disconnect the XP drive, stick in
the Vista CD and boot from that. Loads drivers, Vista loading screen
starts, then shut down and re-boot. And around we go again.
Geez this pisses me off! Seems like the Vista CD isn't even booting
properly.
But the suggestion about

Are you sure you can't select which drive to boot from the BIOS?
That was the option I used for a while back.

Yes, I found the drive in the BIOS, but it say's BOOTMGR missing. I
can boot into Vista in safe mode only.

I found the problem.
I run a quad cpu and XP loved it overclocked 20%. Apparently Vista
hates it! I set the cpu back to Standard and booted right in to Vista.
As stated, I didn't use Vista much and just recently install the Quad
to replace the old Duo. When first installed, everything was fine,
then overclocked for FS while in XP. Next time I went to boot into
Vista>>no go, so I'd use the disc to repair the install, and
everything would be fine until I used XP again. Then going back to
Vista>> no go! Repair the install again! and on and on and on.
Simple solution. And if the above isn't totally confusing, I'm just
happy to be back to the dual OS, since I do find FSX on Vista with the
Quad CPU simply stunning!
Cheers and thanks,
